It was such a time at The Nigeria Economic Summit that held at Transcop hotel, Abuja between 25 and 26 October.
The summit affords me opportunities for identifying the impact the small water has in a larger Ocean of Nigeria economic transformation, the plenary and breakout sessions create unlimited opportunities for networking with critical industry stakeholders, idea generation that shapes policies and engagement with institutions with potential to shape business policies & future.
The Nigeria economic summit @officialNESG serves as a premier platform for constructive dialogue between the public sector, private sector, development partners, academia and civil society.
With tradition spanning decades, the conversations have helped shape national policy conversation, influence reform agendas and build consensus around Nigeria's long-term development priorities.
At NES#32, the conversation was curated around consensus of Nigeria's recent macro economics stabilization, connect evidence with action, identify paths to micro economic stability, and collective growth that ensure.

Cheaper off-plan property sounds great—until delivery becomes uncertain.
When investing in real estate, one of the biggest decisions you’ll make is whether to buy off-plan or purchase a completed property.
Both options have advantages. The right choice depends on your budget, risk tolerance and investment goals.
🏗️ OFF-PLAN PROPERTY
Buying before construction is complete may give you access to a lower entry price and flexible payment plans. You may also benefit from appreciation if the development progresses successfully and market conditions support it.
But there's risk. Construction could be delayed, specifications could change, or the developer might fail to deliver as agreed.
🏠 COMPLETED PROPERTY
With a completed property, you can inspect the actual building, assess its condition and evaluate the surrounding area before committing.
Depending on the property, you may also be able to occupy it or begin letting it sooner.
The trade-off? You may need a larger upfront payment, and there could be less flexibility to customise the property.
Before you decide, remember to:
- Investigate the developer’s delivery history.
- Verify the property title, land status and relevant approvals.
- Understand the payment structure and refund terms.
- Get delivery dates and specifications documented.
- Have a qualified property lawyer review the transaction.
Neither option is automatically safer or more profitable. Due diligence matters more than promises, and projected returns are never guaranteed.
Let's talk: Off-plan or completed—which would you choose, and why?

My work sits at the intersection of real estate, mortgage consultancy, finance, and sustainability.
Different fields, one common thread: helping people make better decisions about their money, properties, and future.
That's the conversation I want to have here. – at Ibadan, Nigeria
I've come to appreciate that success isn't just about making more money.
It's about making better decisions, building lasting relationships, creating value, and leaving things better than you found them.
What makes a neighbourhood a great place to live?
Good roads? Security? Green spaces? Reliable water? Access to schools and healthcare?
A property is more than the building. The surrounding environment matters, too.
What would be your number one priority? – at Ibadan, Nigeria
Real estate development shouldn't only answer the question, "How much can we build?"
It should also ask:
How will this affect the environment, the community, and the people who will live here?
Development should create value without ignoring its impact. – at Ibadan, Nigeria
Banking taught me to pay attention to the numbers.
Real estate reminds me that behind every transaction is a person, a family, a dream, or a business.
The best decisions respect both the numbers and the people involved.
If you cannot measure a risk, you may not fully understand it.
This applies to business decisions, property investments, borrowing, and even personal finances.

Your professional relationships are an asset.
Not because every connection will make you money, but because trust, credibility, and mutual value compound over time.
Don't just network to collect contacts. Build relationships worth keeping. – at Ibadan, Nigeria
One lesson worth carrying from banking into entrepreneurship:
Revenue looks good on paper. Cash flow keeps the business alive.
A business can be profitable on paper and still struggle to pay its bills.
Learn the difference.
A mortgage is a financial commitment, not free money.
Before signing, understand the interest, repayment schedule, fees, eligibility requirements, and consequences of default.

Homeownership isn't only about how much money you have today.
It's also about how well you plan, manage debt, document income, and prepare for long-term repayments.
Your dream home deserves a financial plan, not just a Pinterest board. – at Ibadan, Nigeria
What's the biggest obstacle standing between you and owning a home?
- The cost of property
- Raising a deposit
- Understanding mortgage options
- Finding a trustworthy property
Let's talk about the real barriers to homeownership. – at Ibadan, Nigeria
You don't necessarily need to be wealthy before you start planning for homeownership.
You need to understand your options, your affordability, and the financing routes available to you.
Start with information. Then build a plan.
A beautiful building can impress you.
A verified title can protect you.
Location can influence appreciation.
Rental demand can influence returns.
Learn to look beyond the walls when investing in real estate. – at Ibadan, Nigeria
If you had ₦20 million today, would you rather:
A. Buy land and hold it.
B. Buy a property that generates rental income.
C. Keep the money invested elsewhere.
There is no universal right answer. Let's hear your reasoning. – at Ibadan, Nigeria
Not every property is a good investment.
Sometimes, you're buying into a location with no growth prospects, poor access, or hidden legal issues.
Don't just buy property. Buy with a strategy. – at Ibadan, Nigeria
Before you buy land in Nigeria, ask yourself:
1. Who owns it?
2. What title does it have?
3. Has it been properly verified?
A cheap plot can become an expensive mistake.
Never let excitement replace due diligence.

Affordable homes begin with an ecosystem that works together.
“One Vision, One Ecosystem, One National Housing Plan” brought Nigeria’s housing delivery challenge into focus as part of the 32nd Nigerian Economic Summit (NES #32) Day Zero community events.
Here are a few moments from the event, centred on the coordination needed to turn land, capital and policy into homes Nigerians can afford.
