Amanda is in complete denial about how her performance could have been harmful to Holmes. She’s just like her in that way, she’s saying obvious lies while believing it’s true.
Well I think the entire point is that what you are willing to do “for someone you love” he did it for everyone—not only the beloved, not only those who deserved it, not only for those who knew, the stranger, the criminal, the outcast, the most vile sinner
going thru diaries from when i was struggling with my Christian faith. It seems even from a very young age, I was confused that Jesus's sacrifice was supposed to be such a big deal. I find multiple entries across the years with variations on "Obviously any of us would do that for someone we loved, it kinda seems like Jesus just hitting the bare minimum"

Prominent social democrats being associated with DSA (& getting DSA endorsements) while the DSA program & majority advance democratic socialism is fine by me. But capitalism is a system based on class society and the exploitation of labor. There's no reconciling it w/ socialism.

I don’t agree with this reading. First, Digger is doing more than that (Iñárritu has said as much, it’s not anti-art. Look at it!). But I don’t think anybody knows who “the exact audience” for YCSE is. That’s what makes the film such an event—it’s constituting a new audience!

Fielder’s entire project is about the impossibility of catharsis. Just look at the responses to the film—nobody can even agree on what it’s doing long enough to establish a second-order conversation about the utility of political art. A better analog would be The Social Reckoning
