Nuria and Patrick at fittedprojects.com are the best urban planners I had the fortune to get to know. Everything in their work is firmly based on the economics and trade-offs of the clients. One-stop shop for market-based urbanism and architecture.
I’m honored to be partnering with @AlexUgorji_ for this week’s Morazan Monday. At Fitted Projects, we designed the urban plan and the buildings. fittedprojects.com/portfolio…

In 2019 @MassimoMazzone4 invited @nuforpui and I to design his new charter city, Ciudad Morazan. It’s become one of the projects I’m most proud of. We created a place that works for low-income Hondurans, supporting entrepreneurship in a safe and affordable community.

@MassimoMazzone4, the mastermind behind @CiudadMorazan, envisions a city where good governance is a service. Through entrepreneurial zeal and a commitment to customer satisfaction, Morazán is redefining what it means to live in a free society.

Lovely reminder that another world is possible.
Replying to @devonzuegel
Japan takes this even further with nuisance-based zoning: devonzuegel.com/post/north-a… There are 12 levels of nuisance, ranging from "no nuisance, purely residential" all the way up to "extreme nuisance, can have as much industrial as you want". You can build a home in a high nuisance zone if you want – you just may not want to! Practically you can think of this as a blacklist rather than a whitelist, i.e. all uses are allowed except those explicitly disallowed, rather than all uses are disallowed except those explicitly allowed

Amazing work coming from my favorite Indian startup!
We @UXO_India and our incubated Startup Valectus launches "Swachhata Har Kadam" app for PCMC to monitor real time toilet cleanliness & Infrastructure status using GIS. Spatial analytics, IoT, Artificial Intelligence has ability to make robust data driven system.

#WUF11 was amazing. So many great conversations! Big thanks to @Nicogalarza and @emesalazart for documenting my badly formatted (but very informative!) presentation on planning in the global south.

Honestly refreshing to hear clear and basic messaging
Getting back to basics at #WUF11 Urban planning is mostly about organizing public lands
Room 6 in the multifunction hall at #WUF11 - simple plans for rapidly growing cities, the case of Villavicencio using land swaps to protect biodiversity.

Sitting in a sustainable transport event at #COP26 and wondering how electric vehicles will work out in #cities where people lack driveways and park on the street. What happens if you can’t find an open spot with a charger? Sounds like a job for #urbanplanning.

As the World Bank discontinues the Ease of Doing Business reports, it is worth reiterating the popular version of Goodhart's Law: “When a measure becomes a target, it ceases to be a good measure.”

Thread on the experiences of the Governor of Afghanistan’s central bank (DAB), in trying to get out of Kabul:
Replying to @aahmady
13/It did not have to end this way. I am disgusted by the lack of any planning by Afghan leadership. Saw at airport them leave without informing others. I asked the palace if there was an evacuation plan/charter flights. After 7 years of service, I was met with silence
