ubuntu already built the fix for the 9.8 tcp bug. it's been in -proposed since oct 26.
the 24.04 changelog: no cve tag, one line in a routine batch of 452 stable patches.
a remote root bug shouldn't wait in the normal queue. looks like a process problem, not slow devs.
So @Ubuntu still hasn't patched this open hole on any Ubuntu server on the public internet that lets anyone take it over
We might just have to switch all our servers over to Debian in this new post-AGI time of rapid cybersecurity hacks which require just as rapid patching
Slowpokes will be left behind

I've been wanting to do this story for years and am thrilled it's finally out: inside the surprisingly small, highly specialized industry that repairs the internet cables on the bottom of the ocean theverge.com/c/24070570/inte…
just bought an adapter on aliexpress to put a SSD in the expresscard slot of an old laptop.
good news: it seems to work.
not so good news: the case was a massive PITA to put together and the mounting screw makes the case bulge, i'm not sure i'll ever get the card back out.

Does anyome have any recommendations for short robust USB A to C cables? For micro B i've been using anker powerline but their USB C stuff seems far more expensive with far less choice.
anyone have any good or bad experiences with tinc? i'm considering switching from openvpn to avoid single points of failure.
I'm looking to buy some plywood for general mounting/jig building etc. m looking for reasonablee regisidty and the ability to drive a screw without it coming out the other side which I think means about 12mm thickness.
Any advice on what type/grade I should be buying, where I should be buying it (ideally looking for delivery as I don't drive myself) and how much it should cost?
Seriously @MicrochipTech how the hell did you let a chip as buggy as the mcp795xx nake it into production?!

As someone who used to be a big fan of object pascal and has gradually moved away I disagree with this article.
"Pascal has a great community" perhaps, but it's a small one, you will often end up writing your own import units for libraries.
