I’ve had a few discussions lately about bets informed by @BallparkPal’s HR projections, so I decided to dig in. Across almost every subset, the results are heavily -ROI.
Still a solid data source, but I’d be cautious relying on their HR odds for betting.

Suspect most of you have read/heard about the 3.2% surcharge DraftKings is planning to add to betting in NY, IL, PA, VT. Few thoughts:
1. Absolutely egregious and insulting to anyone who bets, whether recreationally or seriously.
2. Why go so public and front-facing in the app with this surcharge? Instead, DK could easily increase the hold in their parlays, increase the hold in their futures pools... and very few would notice. (Other than sharps, who aren't welcome on DK sportsbook anyway)
3. Maybe DK just doesn't care, and chasing away price-sensitive people who care about the 3.2% extra is a good thing in their eyes?
3a. Or maybe they DK wants to create this outrage, so lawmakers understand that they can't go nuts on sportsbook tax rates and expect consumers to stay?
4. Regardless, we all should very strongly push back on this. Otherwise other books will copy, and it will go from "very hard to win" to "almost impossible to win."
Whole thing is very confusing to me. Given the backlash though, hopeful/optimistic the surcharge doesn't stick.
