film lover.
Several years ago, we spoke by phone about having him on @podcharacter. A quick "getting to know you" turned into him revealing loads of stories from behind the scenes of some of my favorite 80s movies...

so much so that I had to stop him and say, "Wait, wait, John. Save some stories for the episode!" Sadly, we never got to record.
I am grateful to have had a chance to speak with the man who was as nice, kind and easy to laugh as you might imagine
1/4 This one really hurts. Whether you liked him best as Detective John Taggart in the BEVERLY HILLS COP franchise, Marvin Dorfler in MIDNIGHT RUN, Keith's dad in SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL or one of the myriad other roles he played, chances are #JohnAshton had an impact on you as a

I need someone to give Joe Pantoliano his “Whiplash” so he can have an awards run like J.K. Simmons did. It’s time this great character actor got some Oscar love. Guy has been crushing it for years.
We’ve lost another great. Tom Wilkinson OBE was a British actor in film, television, and on stage. He received various awards throughout his career, including a BAFTA, a Golden Globe, a Primetime Emmy Award and nominations for two Academy Awards. RIP.

No. No. No. Great man. Incredible actor. Kind. Sane. Wise. From the first moment I saw him in acting school, Andre was a badass. Incapable of a false moment. Power. Gravity. Truth. Wicked humor. No. No. No.
Andre Braugher, the two-time Emmy-winning star of series including ‘Homicide: Life on the Street,’ ‘Men of a Certain Age’ and ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ died on Monday after a brief illness. He was was 61 bit.ly/3GEiGQz
#AndreBraugher. What a phenomenal talent.
The moment he turned up on screen he elevated any project he was in by his mere presence - before he’d even spoken a word with that fantastic voice.
And, more than that, from all reports just a wonderful human being.
RIP.
More than a year after our last episode went live, we’ve hit our highest rank on @ApplePodcasts at #34! Thanks to all who’ve listened. We hope to serve you up some more great conversations soon!
Mark Margolis, the character actor who is perhaps best known for playing Hector Salamanca on Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, has died at 83. He also appeared in numerous films for director Darren Aronofsky. May he rest in peace. Condolences to his family and friends.
“Of course ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ is a comedy, but the first time I heard somebody say it I was shocked, because I approach the dramatic moments and the comedic moments the same, which is looking for a certain truth that’s appropriate to the intention.” variety.com/2023/film/featur…

We mourn the loss of actor #TreatWilliams, beloved for his portrayal of Dr. Brown on #Everwood and for his work in films like ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA and THINGS TO DO IN DENVER WHEN YOU’RE DEAD. Williams, 71, was riding his motorcycle and was struck and killed.
Lance Reddick would’ve been 61 today. If you want to hear our interview with the late, great actor and musician (where he recites Shakespeare no less!) you can check it out here: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas…
I feel like we tweet it every year but... this Drama Actors Roundtable with Pedro Pascal, Evan Peters, Kieran Culkin, Damson Iris, Michael Imperioli and Jeff Bridges is one of the best ever...
