My lifelong support for draconian gun control laws was weakened during the 2020 riots when, watching helicopter footage of mobs roaming freely through Philly neighborhoods and attempting to enter homes, a journalist reported that homeowners had told him that when they called police begging for protection they were told that law enforcement personnel were overwhelmed and homeowners were "on their own."

In 2020 they fired up the money printer and dumped trillions into the economy like it cost nothing. Then they looked us in the eye and called inflation "transitory." Six years later, CPI just hit 3.7% and it's climbing again.
Your paycheck didn't get printed. Your savings didn't get printed. But your grocery bill, your rent, your car insurance, and your electric bill all went up and never came back down.
You cannot flood the system with free money and then act shocked when every dollar you earn buys less. That's not bad luck. That's the bill coming due.
And nobody who made that call is paying it. You are. Every single month.
This isn't over. Not even close.

I understand that the social security conversation is political poison. But I’m not running for office so I don’t care about that. Taking huge chunks out of the paychecks of young working Americans in order to pay for the retirements of older Americans who have a net worth several times higher, all to prop up a system that everyone knows likely won’t be there when those younger people are retirement age themselves, is morally abhorrent and economically insane. Everyone knows it, too, but we’re held hostage by elderly politicians who refuse to surrender power, and older voters who, as a group (with exceptions, obviously), simply don’t care all that much about the financial and cultural future their grandchildren will inherit.

Social security as a concept sounds good until you realize that the boomers receiving the money have a net worth of ~50 times the younger generations of people paying the money.
Picture a millennial or zoomer renting an apartment paying money out of their meager paycheck each month to a boomer living in a million dollar house and you see the insanity that is social security.
