I used to excuse people who stayed neutral or quiet in certain situations. Prioritizing themselves. But I learned that I'm worth protecting and supporting. I deserve people that will speak up when I'm being harmed/abused. I deserve safety and actual support.
At 32 I am finally figuring out why learning was so different for me for most of my life. I'm finally rebuilding my knowledgebase with a stronger understanding of how my brain actually works. My capabilities have always been there, I was just held back by a system that missed me.

Sometimes I feel down about where I am in life and how few people truly get what I've been through. But when I remind myself that I’m constantly learning how my disabilities affect my daily life, and that I’ve basically been playing life on hard mode, I feel proud of myself.

I wish there were more autism social stories for adults dealing with issues such as dating, contraception, getting a mortgage, navigating the benefit system, sexual activity etc.
It feels like we have to work this all out for ourselves.
Decided to take a break from EMDR Therapy and just have a more relaxed talk therapy session with my partner. It went incredibly well. There will always be ways we can better ourselves and simultaneously improve our relationships. Honest feedback in relationships shows care.
