Nothing unites like an enemy at the gate ∘ the leaders of these economies may be less foolhardy than the US administration and instead of retaliating in full force with tariffs, the relief valve for their economies may take the form of fiscal stimulus (consumption subsidies + corporate tax breaks) ∘ the fiscal impulse is shifting away from US into her competitors ∘ this may put more upward pressure on the dollar as these economies turn more fiscally dominant and their currencies revalue to reflect that trend ∘ debt markets may also re-invigorate as liquidity deepens, yield curve steepens and carry become attractive to global fixed income investors ∘ all this while, capital flows are siphoned away from the US asset markets If things continue, we may see a new war front open up on the capital side and this☝️ is the spoils to the victor of that battle #capital_war
