Adventure Game Studio doesn’t support shaders or effects. But those limitations motivate you to get creative to bring your vision to life.
Now that the pain is starting to ease, I’ve decided to get back to doing pixel art today. It’s not bad, considering I did it with half a hand out of action. 😅
The last thing I’d leave to an AI is writing dialogue. This isn’t about a machine making your work go faster. This is about letting a cold robot take care of the part where a writer can leave their style and personal touch, and therefore, their HUMAN touch.

AI is shaking up the nature of the creative work being done, pushing more towards direction and away from tweaking everything manually. The key parts of a game will be heavily directed by creatives, but AI will enable modes of creativity that just aren't possible now.
For example, today dialog is largely fixed dialog trees and templates, but now we can also choose to have completely dynamic conversations where the designer writes up the character's bio, personality, and mannerisms, rather than the dialog. The Darth Vader event in Fortnite was an early glimpse of this. It'll only get better from there.
My hand injury is keeping me from making much progress on the game. So I’ve been polishing up the text, sending what I have so far out for testing, and implementing this little thing I’m proud of:
Some items are animated both when you hover over them and when you select them.
Good news: I'm about to finish the first chapter of my new game.🎉
Bad news: In a silly accident, I fractured a finger on my right hand. I can't continue developing the game until the bandages are removed and the pain subsides 😬

❤️+RT! Means a lot!
And... done! This scene took me two days. I would like to thank @DonutDroid for their advice when creating it.
What do you think of the final result?
This screenshot is an absolute beauty. ❤️
This museum was integrated into The Dark Rites of Arkham for several reasons. One was narrative: you’ll have to solve a puzzle there. Another was to give those unfamiliar with H.P. Lovecraft a quick introduction to his themes and obsessions. 🧵
The inspiration comes from the wonderful The Lost Crown by @jonathanboakes . In Saxton, there’s a museum where you can immerse yourself in the town’s historyor simply have a good time, as it has no impact on solving the puzzles. I’ve always thought it was a fantastic idea.
