This Miami-Notre Dame is fire! What a great Saturday it’s been for college football! My Tar Heels moved to 5-4 after dispatching UConn. Utah solidified its spot as a top 4 team in college football. Ohio State is out of the playoff along with LSU.

18 years later history repeated itself….. I was worried about BYU going into this game since they don’t do well in morning games. They also hardly win up at Rice Eccles. I was right. It wasn’t Max Hall this time. It was Bear Bachmeier throwing 4 INTs that cost em the game. BYU would need lots of miracles to make the Big 12 title and CFP. However, those hopes seem dashed now and they looking at another Pop Tarts Bowl or Vegas Bowl. BYU NEVER learned the lessons from the past 3 years. The football gods giveth and taketh away. Congrats to Utah and Morgan Scalley on getting the monkey off their backs after 5 years. Y’all go get that Big 12 title! Just remember to stay focused and NOT get overconfident. – at Provo, UT

I keep telling myself that BYU doesn’t have a shot at beating Utah especially in Rice Eccles. They don’t perform well during the morning slate. They’ve hardly won up at Rice Eccles. Utah has a phenomenal coach in Morgan Scalley, great O and D, and legit title contenders. I remember the same hype in ‘08 (was in 8th grade living in KC) when #7 Utah was 11-0 and #14 BYU was 10-1. If BYU won there would’ve been a 3 way tie for the MWC title (Utah and TCU) and would’ve got the BCS bid. They kept it close before 2 big Max Hall turnovers in the 4th allowed Utah to run away. I think they’ll get blown out and lose badly up at RES. Hopefully this doesn’t end up on a freezing takes profile post. Maybe the Cougs will prove me wrong. 🤷🏾‍♂️ – at Provo, UT

OTD, Genndy Tartakovskys Star Wars Clone Wars was released on Cartoon Network in 2003. I remember being so hyped to watch the first episode only to be disappointed that it wasn’t even that long. 😂 For me, this is THE definitive SW cartoon show that it tells the events that occurred between AOTC and ROTS. – at Provo, UT

Sending my congratulations to BYU women’s soccer for winning the Big 12 title. I went to their game last week against Utah. Hadn’t been to a game there since they beat my Tar Heels in the Elite Eight. It still stings but at least the next year we won our 23rd national title. 🤷🏾‍♂️

I love the recent discourse with Gen Z embracing Anakin as a Hero….. Luke Skywalker was my hero as a kid. I’d always pretend I was Luke fighting Vader in Episode 5. Empire still remains my top SW movie and all time GOAT film. So many memories of popping in the vcr to rerun and rewind. It all changed for me as a 8 year old (going on 9) when I went to see AOTC at one of my group homes in Independence (MO). My first movie going experience. I was absolutely in awe with Hayden’s performance as Anakin. I understood his emotions and how he felt. I remember having the vcr for AOTC and always rewinding back to certain scenes. I understood since I had went through (and still was going through) a traumatic childhood filled with trauma and abuse. I sympathized with him when he couldn’t protect his mother (how I felt about not protecting my sister when she was SAd in our first group home 2 months previous). I understood and supported him up until he became Darth Vader in ROTS. Can’t support the atrocities he committed after being ordained as Vader. – at Provo, UT

Yes! His desire for power started when he couldn’t save his mother.

Anakins POV used to confuse me til I understood….. Anakins stance about the Jedi being evil always confused me til I understood what he was saying. The Jedi Order had become complacent in watching the Republic crumble around them. Symbolically, The Jedi sat in their “ivory towers” as the system rotted away in corruption. They never realized that they were watching as the galaxies fate was sealed going into a war orchestrated by the man whom was elected as its leader. Much the same as Obi Wan looking down ignored (though he later acknowledged) that Count Dooku was telling him a Sith Lord was orchestrating the events of the Republic. They stood by while slavery ruled in the Outer Rim, as corruption ruled the Senate, and they continued to disrespect Anakin even though he was their war hero doing the dirty work. They wanted him to spy on an elected official which is treason. They followed the will of the Senate rather than the Force. They tried to assassinate an elected leader of the Republic (which the Senate and everyday citizens would see as religious bigotry). They didn’t care to help rescue his mother with all the resources in the galaxy. I could go on but that will all suffice. The Jedi Order told Anakin about fear, yet feared the Sith rising again. – at Provo, UT

Let me get this straight: it’s bad to have Anakin start off as a young slave boy on Tatooine with his mother. A kid with endless potential and gifts. A kid who can’t leave the planet or else the bomb planted in him ends his life. He gets beat a lot and teased. He leaves and is continually worried about his mother while training to become a Jedi. The Jedi also take aim at that familial importance which points to how out of touch they are with anything. We get to AOTC and he has dreams about his mom, where he discloses and Obi Wan tells him they amount to nothing. He leaves his assignment protecting Padme on Tatooine to search for her. His whole life philosophy and training as a Jedi goes up in smoke when he realizes he couldn’t save his mom. He takes out all his anger and frustration (also aimed at the Jedi Order) on the Tusken village. All of this leads to ROTS where the one voice who’s always been there for him and supported, Palpatine, eventually turns him away and he becomes his apprentice. You have a problem with all that?
