In the novel 1984, your state assigned always-on television that watched and listened to you was left at home. IRL, we carry them with us everywhere we go.

So israel threatens nuclear bombs, US Military prepares for 90 days of darkness and peoples' TVs are hijacking smart devices for their microphones. lol.

Fat is actually good for you. Your body needs it. By eating lean meat you are starving your body.

A huge amount of Christianity's celebrations, symbols, rituals, and traditions are based on what you all would call Paganism.

researcher @log4j just published a teardown of samsung’s TV sensor telemetry. Here’s what the logs show. samsung TVs without a built-in microphone look for connected devices that have one soundbars, bluetooth speakers, anything paired. They use that mic instead. the audio isn’t sent raw. it’s classified first. the telemetry path includes named event types: — EV201/SOUNDSENSOR_ON: logs dog-barking and baby-crying counters — EV101/LIGHTSENSOR_ON: software flag for ambient light state — EV301/CAMERASENOR_ON: camera-state and notification fields — EV302/CAMERASENSOR_OFF: camera streaming duration the data is formatted as key=value pairs and logged to lcprd1.samsungcloudsolution.… with deviceid=1. it’s not recovering unique identifiers per device — the ID mode is configured but the module prefix and runtime policy still need independent verification. what is confirmed: samsung’s TVs are classifying ambient audio including whether a dog is barking or a baby is crying in your home and reporting event counts back to samsung servers. there’s no wake word these are passive environmental audio events being counted and logged.

turns out it classifies what audio it hears, before reporting back to samsung. sensor preferences, dog-barking and baby-crying event counters, and camera streaming duration are built into telemetry paths.

this is pretty evil and clever. so if your samsung TV model doesnt have a microphone, it will look for connected devices with one, such as a soundbar or a connected bluetooth device. this gets shipped off to bixby.

I was a stagehand/props master/carpenter way back in the day and I am now old and forget where we got ours. That said, what ever you do, make sure the line you use to lower the dry ice into the water is tied properly unless you want epic levels of fog. It's actually amazing to see but on opening night...let's just say words were said lol.

In a rational world this would be surprising. But alas, we do not live in a rational world, hence, unsurprising.
