SITUATION DETECTED: A man representing himself in a Connecticut court hid prompt injections in official filings designed to manipulate AI. The instructions, written in tiny white text invisible to humans, told any AI reviewing the documents to side with him, per 404 Media.

Columbia is opening its Global Center in Tel Aviv, the culmination of more than 8 years of work. @Columbia has more Israeli students than any other Ivy, a large alumni community living in Israel, and many faculty collaborating with Israeli universities. Each year, a tremendous number of Columbia students travel to Israel - many with @cbhillel This center gives Columbia affiliates another opportunity to engage with Israel in a serious way.

The University's updated statement, communications.news.columbia…, makes clear currently recognized student groups cannot affiliate with the group that calls itself "CUAD."

The group that calls itself “CUAD" is not a recognized student group, or affiliated in any way with the University. There is no evidence that anyone currently in control of their account is a current Columbia student, staff, or faculty member. They are illegally using the Columbia name.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
An open letter from Columbia faculty members in support of Columbia University Apartheid Divest (CUAD) was published in May 2024. The signatories (most of whom still work at the university) can be found here.

Excited to share that our new paper is now live on the @HarvardCorpGov.
This work with @profmitts uses a unique natural experiment to show how processing costs affect market quality - challenging traditional assumptions about how efficiently markets incorporate public information

These were cousins of a key member of my staff. Their lives were stolen by hatred. Their memory steels our purpose. We will confront antisemitism without hesitation or compromise!
Twins Roi and Guy Berdichevsky were 10 months old when Hamas terrorists stormed their home in Kibbutz Kfar Aza on October 7th. Their parents Itay and Hadar were brutally murdered in front of them. After killing Itay and Hadar, the Hamas monsters left babies Roi and Guy lying next to the lifeless bodies of their mother and father and for 13 hours, the babies were alone in the house, no food, no milk, no water, no electricity, no air conditioning in the intense heat. Just the cries of two infants echoing through the ruins. The terrorists had booby-trapped the home, deliberately using the crying of the babies to lure IDF soldiers into a deadly ambush, intending to kill the rescuers and the babies with them.
Thankfully, IDF forces managed to detect and disarm the explosives. The trap was defused. Roi and Guy were saved.
Their survival is a miracle but the horror they were left in is unimaginable
May the memories of Itay and Hadar be a blessing 💔🕯️
Great to see this emerging Israeli scholarship by @KricheliKatz and @NoyaMatalon on the cutting-edge topic of algorithmic discrimination in the AI era... 👏👏👏
Proud of all our graduates at Columbia Commencement 2025, and especially @Eliana_Goldin and @edenyadegar, leaders of the Jewish community on campus!

It’s barely been 24 hours, and Columbia and Barnard have already suspended nearly 100 students and alumni for violently occupying Butler Library.
This is strong leadership that values real education over performative activism. There’s hope for Columbia!

Excellent work by the leadership of @Columbia in responding to yesterday’s invasion and takeover of a library study room while students were studying for final exams. Columbia will not tolerate disruptions to our academic mission.

Important to note that this was ongoing for a while and is unrelated to and unaffected by the recent “happenings” related to Columbia. It reached its natural conclusion after a long, careful, and thoughtful process
.@Columbia students expelled and suspended for taking over Hamilton Hall last spring. I commend the University Judicial Board for making these tough decisions, the Rules administrator for his work and the university administration for navigating this very complex process. 1 /2
The discipline determinations announced today by Columbia’s University Judicial Board for the Hamilton Hall occupation were conducted pursuant to a transparent, accountable process. The University should be commended for conducting fair, impartial hearings that reflect its commitment to the core values that define this institution.
