Someone has left this note - and this lighter! - at the Halifax grave of Maj.-Gen. Robert Ross, the British military man who burned down the White House.

Just a reminder my Canadian friends. Many spring projects. Home Depot is 100% American owned. The owner is Bernard Marcus is a huge Trump supporter. Home hardware is 100% Canadian owned. Pass the word repost.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know

HEY EVERYONE REMEMBER WHEN TRUMP WAS IMPEACHED FOR DENYING AID TO UKRAINE BECAUSE HE WANTED ZELENSKY TO LIE AND SAY BAD THINGS ABOUT BIDEN AND ZELENKSY WOULDN’T DO IT? Maybe literally one fucking American newspaper could mention this in their, “think pieces,” about what happened yesterday.

A flimsy piece of public infrastructure that’s been lazily delegated to a private media company burning in front of the city’s newest and glossiest mall is actually a pretty complete portrait of the city’s shortcomings.
going out for a walk in toronto and cool there’s a garbage can on fire

People on both sides of the aisle always talk about how small business is the foundation of our economy. And also a big part of employment. We also know that mostly, they just pay lip service. But - two thirds of private workers come from those small employers. Places like the Toronto’s Revue Cinema are well run businesses and a big part of our history. If they can’t compete, what are we even doing. There was an 38 per cent increase of small business bankruptcies in 2023. Save Toronto. And Canada.

Tomorrow we're publishing Harold Sonny Ladoo's final, unfinished work, Yesterdays. It is a big departure from his first book, and it shows a trajectory to his writing career that might have changed the course of Canadian literature. Check it out here: chbooks.com/Books/Y/Yesterda… ☀️

I’ve seen three images in the last few minutes that’ll be with me for the rest of my life. To bomb a refugee camp is an unimaginable horror. Every hand has to be turned to stop this.
There is no good way to perceive this nightmare.

Videos from strike on UNRWA camp in Rafah are truly horrific. I won’t share them. But this is insanity, and most people paying close attention know it. It won’t end the war. It won’t destroy Hamas. It won’t bring home the hostages. It will just create more orphans and misery

When my son was born, Alice Munro wrote me a letter. The letter was one of congratulations, and then instructions to me about my partner: to let her carve out a life outside of raising a kid - that I'd better raise this child equally & respect the working life of my son's mother.
