A great thread - the VC that never was, and should have been. These stories are what our rebuild is all about, preserving them and ensuring they are told. All that’s stopping RB396 taking flight is funding. @LordAshcroft @TyphoonDisplay @pilot396 @James1940 @almurray

#OnThisDay 1944 @RCAF_ARC F/O Hal Freeman (198 Sqn RAF) was killed in an attack on a German radar station near Jobourg, south of the northwest tip of the Cotentin peninsula. This fatal mission in advance of #DDay almost led to a Victoria Cross for Hal, but it wasn’t to be. 1/

Good to see a Typhoon in the jig and not a Spit for a change! Something like this is needed on the UK airshow circuit as a real memorial to the brave @project_typhoon

On the hunt for auction lots for our Black Tie gala later in the year - can you help? Small or large, anything welcome, especially “non-aviation” related. Get a discount on tickets by providing a lot, too. Can you help? Get in touch if so!

What could be a better way to celebrate 600 flipping episodes of the @WeHaveWaysPod than a discussion on that beautiful beast, the Hawker Typhoon?? Love this aircraft & praying Sam Worthington-Lees and the gang at @project_typhoon get theirs back into the sky! @almurray – at South East, England

Wishing Bernard Gardiner a very happy 101st birthday for today. It was an honour to have him as guest of honour at the weekend, and to facilitate him going up in the Hurricane! @James1940 @almurray @thehistoryguy @pilot396 @MikeLingPilot @HiUlt @Flyer_Magazine

“….and some people prefer Spitfires 😂😂”. Actually not sure what we were laughing about, but what a privilege to fly with 100-year-old Bernard Gardiner on Sunday. He was guest of honor at the Hawker Typhoon Preservation Group event over the weekend as they restore RB396

Read the tweet again. They are referring to a 100 year old Hurricane and Typhoon Veteran (Pilot) not the aircraft. 😎
