This is interesting from a product design perspective. Coinbase(when they had margin in 2017) only allowed a single position per market, making it impossible to create irrational, self-canceling positions.

Another DeFi margin product. The first one I've seen so far that uses an external lending pool. The general recipe is Margin = Lending Pool + DEX: - dydx = Internal Pool + Eth2Dai/0x - nuo = Internal Pool + Kyber - opyn = External Pool (Compound) + Uniswap

Mistakes were made. Some due to centralization, some not: - Listing CLAM (governance) - Not capping collateral relative to liquidity (governance) - Reliant on 1 market for price and liquidation (limitation of CEX) - 100% of loss suffered by lenders (all profit no insurance)

On May 26, a sudden, severe price crash in the CLAM market caused a number of margin loans to default, resulting in a roughly 1800 BTC loss in the Poloniex BTC margin lending pool for non-US customers.

Too bad we still rely on centralized exchanges. DEXs are a step in the right direction. No one should be launching new coins without atomic swap as a base feature. And should be using DHTs to match up buyers and sellers.
