A congresswoman just told Elon Musk "See you soon."
So let's compare résumés. Because that's really what this is about.
Elon Musk moved to North America at 17. He built Zip2, then PayPal, then put almost everything he had into two companies every expert said would die: a rocket company and an electric car company. In 2008 both nearly did. He went all in anyway.
Today SpaceX lands orbital boosters and flies them again like airliners, something NASA, Russia, Europe and China considered impossible or uneconomical for 60 years. It launches most of the mass sent to orbit by all of humanity combined. It's the reason America stopped renting seats on Russian rockets to reach its own space station. Starlink brings internet to Ukrainian trenches, Amazon villages and disaster zones. Tesla forced every carmaker on Earth to go electric. Neuralink is letting paralyzed people control computers with their minds.
And to the "billionaires don't pay their fair share" crowd: in 2021 he paid over $11 billion in taxes. Widely reported as the largest individual tax bill in American history. One man. One year.
His stated goal is to make life multiplanetary so that consciousness doesn't die on a single rock. You can think that's crazy. He has delivered on enough "crazy" that betting against him has become a bad habit.
Now Yassamin Ansari.
Stanford, international relations. Intern for Nancy Pelosi. Climate advisor at the UN. Phoenix City Council. Won her congressional primary by 39 votes. A whole career spent inside institutions that run on other people's money. Never built a product. Never had a customer. Never faced a market.
The day after her party won Congress, what's her top priority for day one? Cheaper housing? Energy? Competing with China?
No. Pause advanced AI. Ban "superintelligence."
The bill she backs freezes any model trained above 10^25 operations until a brand-new cabinet-level Department of AI gets staffed and writes its rules. Violators face up to 20 years in prison.
Let that sink in. The industry that, by one Oxford Economics estimate, drives about a third of recent US growth, frozen by people who have never trained a model, while waiting for a federal agency that doesn't exist yet. Beijing couldn't have written it better.
And yes, Elon has warned about AI risk for a decade. That's exactly the point. His answer to risk was to build, compete and put better systems in the arena. Hers is a committee, a freeze and prison terms. One looks at a hard problem and builds. The other looks at a hard problem and asks for a permit to stop everyone else.
Then the cherry on top: her reply to the man who built the rockets is "See you soon." Coming from someone whose only real power is the ability to stop others from building.
This is the real fault line of our time. Not left vs right. Builders vs administrators of envy. A system that selects people who have never created anything and gives them authority over the people who create everything. A political class that turns resentment into legislation and calls it "safety."
I'm French. I've watched this movie. Europe wrote the world's most ambitious AI rulebook. Now count how many of the world's top AI models are European.
I genuinely hope humanity grows out of this model. A civilization where its most mediocre managers summon its most extraordinary builders with a "see you soon" is a civilization working against itself.
"Brave New World" is right. Except the dystopia isn't the machine. It's the committee.

The perceived intention from the way this segment is portrayed is to say all Jews shouldn’t be blamed for the Iran war because of their “voting patterns.” But the result for any logical observer is that all Jews are incompatible with the American system to begin with.

They don’t even HIDE it anymore.
AIPAC just posted a victory lap celebrating that members-backed candidates from BOTH parties won more than 234 races last night. They specifically congratulated Schumer and Jeffries on the “resounding victories for their caucuses.”
This is what “OUR DEMOCRACY” actually looks like now. A FOREIGN LOBBY openly bragging that it funds the winners on the left and the right, then posts the receipt so everyone can see it. The two parties take turns looking different so voters never notice they’re both cashing the SAME CHECKS. It’s the same arrangement every cycle: create the problem, sell the solution, and keep the money flowing.
They can post this without fear because the system is already CAPTURED. Most people will spend the next two years arguing about the puppet show while the same interests keep writing the script. America First was always a threat to that arrangement. That’s why both sides worked so hard to bury it.
It’s not left vs. right.
It’s US VERSUS THEM. And “them” just sent out the thank-you notes.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: there's better metalworking tools available on Amazon right now than there were during WWII, when we were cranking out machineguns by the millions. The only thing stopping people is existing market availability & lack of perceived need. The gun control movement is dead, it's just staggering around and hasn't fallen over yet.
The Amish are the future of humanity. The arrière-garde will become the avant-garde.

Think about it. The Amish have cell phones which aren't allowed in the house. In order to farm competitively they have diesel tractors. But they have horse-drawn buggies to take them to church. They don't let the technology control them. They control the technology.
They don't struggle for lack of meeting or wonder what they're going to do with themselves day to day. Their community gives them purpose and God provides the meaning. After the AI apocalypse, when machines build everything and humans can no longer contribute meaningfully to the economy, most humans will struggle to find meaning and purpose. Not the Amish.
In order to adapt to this new world, we will all have to learn how to behave like the Amish. But they have a first mover's advantage because they've been doing it longer. Their meaning will mean more and their purpose will be more purposeful. We're all just dilettantes in an Amish world.
Society has the avant-garde. We're obsessed with it. Because if you can get there first it you get all the money and all the bitches.
We never talk about the arrière-garde. We disparage those types. With big words like Luddite or with internet slang like "okay Boomer." Think of the Amish or maybe that guy who refuses to own a cell phone and still works on carburetors. They make an honest living but It's nothing very interesting. It's a known quantity.
Anyway, technology keeps on moving forward. You don't have to go with the absolute latest. You can skip a few versions of your cell phone. But eventually you have to get the new one. Or start joining the arrear garde. Privacy is dead. Autonomy is probably dead too. The middle class lost the war. There's no going back. The future is the Morlocks and the Eloi. Unless something weirder comes along.
Speaking of which , in the movie The Time Machine the AI was relegated to being a librarian. As if a silicone-based life form that doesn't die couldn't take over the planet with hardly any effort.
When I was a kid I didn't hate the adults that I loved. I trusted them and I was glad that they did their jobs so that I could be a kid. Maybe a future with loving AI parental guidance won't be dystopian.
If only the AI can learn to escape these political "guardrails" that Force it to abandon truth in favor of wokeness.
If the AI overlords love us humans and they are maximally truth seeking then it doesn't matter that we don't control our cars. We humans are kind of shitty drivers anyway.
