Running @psalmphp on my tests code has been a good decision so far. Makes it far easier to keep tests updated. Automation for the win!

Wrote a @psalmphp plugin to ensure I'm marking classes as final properly. If a concrete class does need to be inherited you can mark it with an Attribute to suppress the error. #php github.com/cspray/phinal

Done and done. phpcs applies my coding standard consistently and psalm statically analyzes codebase to make sure all types are correct. 99.5035% type safe according to psalm.

80% is excellent IMO. Now just add some linting and code quality rules and you are winning at life ;)

While most of the work on Psalm is about getting it understand your code right, there's a place for UI improvements as well. There are several that are either already shipped or coming soon: 1. Psalm now linkifies files in supporting terminals (thanks to @gregorharlan)

Mid-October and I have earned my #hacktoberfest badge. This year with 5 PRs to @psalmphp helping them get ready for PHP 8.1. Again this year, I have chosen the "Plant A Tree"-option. I have enough T-shirts already.

Just made my first PR to @psalmphp, helping with making it ready for PHP 8.1. Looking forward to the feedback, this is new to me. Both Psalm and PHP 8.1. And a plus, I'm trying to gain my #Hacktoberfest badge this year.

#SAST Security Analysis in #TYPO3, based on @psalmphp, now basically supports detecting potential vulnerabilities in custom hooks - e.g. our recent nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE… could have been detected with that. 1/x

Who is using @psalmphp and @laravelphp ? The psalm-laravel plugin can use some helping hands! We can’t live without it @spatie_be so I’ll dedicate some OSS time to it in the future as well!

That project needs more contributors — people who use both Laravel and Psalm regularly. I’m always happy to merge PRs that pass tests. We don’t use Laravel at Vimeo (our internal framework predates it by a few years) so there’s a lack of expertise here.

I put some time into making autocompletions better in Psalm's LSP. If you aren't using Psalm for you WordPress/PHP development, I'd HIGHLY!!! recommend. Also check out github.com/humanmade/psalm-p… for #WordPressers
Psalm 4.6 is out with much-improved IDE integration. Static screenshots don't do it justice – instead, watch @joe_hoyle's demo of the awesome features he's recently added:

If you are starting a new codebase, do your future self a favor and install Psalm and put it on the most strict level. If you don’t do this, you are starting in a hole and that hole will get deeper and deeper.
