🧡 Post-#elxn45 commentary is focused on inter-party vote-shifts, but in some cases massive turnout hikes also deserve closer attention. Whether from infrequent voters deciding to show up this time (abstainers), or increased voter-rolls (new entrants), let's take a look. 1/23

I asked Premier Kinew if he has concerns about Premier-designate Doerksen's promise to repeal DRIPA in BC: "The election results in BC should concern every elected politician and every consultant out there... what we're doing is not a game." #cdnpoli

I acknowledge that this last action by our oligarchic overlords has sent my inner social democrat on a rampage. But history does suggests some social democracy is necessary to correct and save democratic capitalism.

A heartfelt thank you to our Canadian friends Over the past few days, the Embassy of Ukraine has received numerous phone calls, emails, and messages from Canadians across the country expressing their support for Ukraine and concern over Russia’s continued attacks against our people. These messages are a powerful reminder that Canada’s support for Ukraine extends far beyond official statements and government decisions. It is deeply rooted in the convictions, compassion, and personal commitment of Canadians who continue to follow developments in Ukraine and care deeply about the well-being and future of its people. We read your messages. We hear your voices. And we are deeply moved by your kindness, warmth, and solidarity expressed in every one of them. To every Canadian who has reached out, and to all those who continue to support Ukraine in so many different ways, please accept our sincere gratitude. Please know that your support is deeply appreciated and never taken for granted. On behalf of Ambassador @a_plakhotniuk and the entire team at the Embassy of Ukraine in Canada - thank you, Canada πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦πŸ€πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

Russian media is now in a 24/7 state of ridiculing Trump for being stupid enough to fall for Putin's fake diesel deal that served only to con Trump into blocking Ukraine's strikes on the Russian oil industry. A simple act of Russia's long-famous practice of reflexive control - getting your opponent to do the thing that hurts them. No different than Brexit or electing Trump twice.

Nice to see this political advice meted out to a man for a change :-)
Political consultant and former Obama advisor David Axelrod says Jon Ossoff needs to smile more. β€œI haven't seen him smile. I've never seen him smile, he's always very severe. So there are other elements of campaigning that I would like to see.” Source: Pod Save America interview

CORRECT Assessment: USA Is bankrolling the Russian slaughter of Ukrainians.
So let's get this straight: Russia just murdered over 65 people in Ukraine in less than 48 hours. Crushed a building on top of sleeping families to celebrate Putin's birthday. And today, the U.S. announces that they are lifting sanctions on Russian diesel and planning to buy some, essentially becoming sponsors of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Just a day after a horrific terrorist attack by Russia that killed so many, and just before the winter when the Russian government screams from all the rooftops that they are going to create a humanitarian catastrophe in Ukraine by destroying our infrastructure. This is just such a low and cruel betrayal that it's hard to wrap my head around...

President Zelenskyy: "From intelligence reports and individuals within Putin's inner circle, we know that in early September Putin declared: 'From now on, there are no rules.' The Russians failed to occupy us, so now they are resorting to massive strikes and mass killings. Naturally, they want to destroy our bridges and, as we understand, our data centers, internet infrastructure, mobile networks, hospitals, kindergartens, schools, universities β€” everything. They want people to flee their cities, and we must do everything in our power to save our people and our cities."

🚨☣️More details on the Oct 1st pneumonic plague outbreak in Siberia, after a lab accident at a BSL-3 lab. "FSB units accompanying ambulances transporting people who had been in contact with [lab tech] Shipilova for medical examination," as per local news. This is significant. FSB is Russia's domestic security / counterintelligence service, tasked w/implementing the national security of Russia." (Its predecessor was the KGB). This suggests quarantine was not voluntary. It also means Russian authorities are treating the lab accident and plague outbreak as a national security issue, involving a lot more than routine public health.

Anne Applebaum: "You've certainly seen some in the administration playing around with Alberta separatism. These are all games and tests to see if the U.S. can help begin the process of breaking up Canada. And I think that is with the goal of absorbing all or part of Canada one way or the other into the United States."

We all need to wake up to the existence of a new right wing alliance, clearly called for in the US National Security Strategy issued in December 2025, which will include the German AFD, the Rassemblement National in France, Nigel Farage’s party and those even further to the right in the UK. Their political advance will be led, supported, fuelled and financed by Trump, the TechBros, Putin, and whatever other sources can be found around the world. They are actively interfering in the Alberta referendum, and will fund whatever racist and separatist groups they can find around the world. Failure to understand this, and to fight it, will put our own democratic lives at risk.
This is very clear: The AFD supports the Russian slaughter of Ukrainian civilians, and will favor the slaughter and conquest of other Europeans too. No one can say they didn't know, or were not warned.
