Tak w każdym razie twierdzą autorzy uwzględniającego 251 miejscowości Happy City Index 2026 prowadzonego przez Institute for Quality of Life oraz Happy City Hub. Stolica Rumunii plasuje się tam na miejscu trzecim (lub czwartym, bo drugie miejsce przypada ex equo Dallas i Nashville). Trzecim... od końca.

Imagine taking on russian and German armies at the same time, driving them both out, and today leading the world’s security council. This is Latvia 🇱🇻🫡
Latvia has just assumed the Presidency of the United Nations Security Council for the first time. On this day in 1919, Latvian Colonel Krišjānis Berķis signed the order to launch a counteroffensive against German-Russian forces. After liberating Riga, Latvian forces went on to achieve full victory in the Latvian War of Independence, securing the sovereignty of their young republic in international law. 107 years later, this now enables Latvia to take a world leading role in standing up for the sovereign rights of all nations to exist in peace and security under international law.

Another Putin ally has fallen in Europe! After more than a decade of dominating Serbian politics, Aleksandar Vučić has conceded defeat in parliamentary elections to a student-led opposition movement. This is a major political earthquake in Europe. Vučić maintained close ties with Putin, refused to impose sanctions on russia over its invasion of Ukraine, and tried to balance relations between Moscow and the West. But after nearly two years of student-led protests against corruption and authoritarianism, Serbian voters have delivered a stunning rejection of his ruling party. According to preliminary projections, the opposition is expected to secure 135–140 seats in the 250-seat parliament. And here is what makes this victory particularly remarkable: It was students who helped bring down a political establishment that had dominated Serbia for more than a decade. First, Viktor Orbán lost power in Hungary. Now Vučić’s party has lost in Serbia. Two European leaders who maintained close relationships with Putin have suffered historic electoral defeats in the same year. Of course, this does not guarantee that Serbia will suddenly become pro-Ukrainian. But it creates an opportunity for a different relationship with Europe and a different approach toward russia. Putin is losing political allies in Europe. And that is good news for Ukraine. Congratulations to the people of Serbia!

Almost 6 million people have watched the interview with @ZelenskyyUa in just 3 days! A conversation I will never forget. He spoke in Ukrainian, we both had ear pieces in with human translators in a room next door, and we translated what he said into English afterwards.
What do you say to your family when you don’t know if you’ll ever see them again? In February 2022, he told his wife and children the war had begun. Then he left as Russian forces advanced towards Kyiv, unsure what the coming hours would bring. This is President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Before politics, he built a successful career in Ukrainian television as a writer, producer and performer, even portraying a president on screen. In 2019, he was elected President of Ukraine. Three years later, Russia launched its full-scale invasion. Sitting down with him was surreal and an enormous responsibility. It was a rare chance to hear his account of the first hours of the war and the decisions that followed. We discussed things like: How he found out Russia had invaded. Why he refused an offer to evacuate Kyiv. The 64km Russian military convoy advancing towards the capital. How Russian forces tried to capture a key airport. His account of discovering hundreds of bodies after Russian occupation. What he believes it will take to end the war. But I also wanted to understand how he’d been coping. One of my first questions was simply, “How are you doing?” His answer was: “It’s hard.” He spoke about meeting parents whose children had been killed. Some, he explained, simply ask him for a hug. And as he spoke, there were tears in his eyes. Whatever your views on the war or the decisions made by those involved, this is a rare opportunity to hear his account of events that have changed millions of lives. Because behind every map, every headline and every political decision, there are real people. Out now on all platforms ❤️👊🏾 (President Zelenskyy was recorded in Ukrainian and dubbed in English.)

Another commercial ship has been hit by a drone in the Black Sea. It's the eighth ship to have been attacked in the past month.
Today’s lethal attack on a commercial vessel just 13 NM off Constanța - killing one sailor and injuring others - is a blatant violation of international law and freedom of navigation. Condolences to the victim’s family as Romanian Coast Guard rescue operations continue. Russia’s illegal war of aggression against Ukraine is escalating and this directly affects merchant marine navigation in the Black Sea. This is a direct threat to both regional and global security. We are coordinating closely with #NATO Allies, including Bulgaria and Türkiye, to fast-track the additional surveillance capabilities agreed at the Oct 20 NAC.

Zelenskyy on Trump: As president, one must conduct oneself accordingly; one must act with prudence and diplomacy. But one cannot simply say, "Well, sorry, it’s just Putin—a big country. Let’s just forget everything, forgive everything, and somehow go back to buying and selling gas, diesel, or whatever else." Further statements from the Ukrainian president: Those responsible for the suffering in Ukraine must be punished. At the very least, we must embark on a path that leads precisely to that. Forgiveness is impossible. I said to Trump: "Fine—if you can’t get Putin to end the war and reach an energy agreement, then give me anti-aircraft missiles. I won’t use them against just anyone; I will use them to protect our energy sector." So, in what way am I being unreasonable? In what respect? I asked Trump: "Give us missiles." And not for free—mind you, not even for free. The Europeans are funding it. The tone Trump uses when he speaks about me—that is the exact tone he should be using toward Putin. Congress voted for tough sanctions. Trump has the authority to implement them. I don’t know why he isn’t doing so. When Trump says we need to find a compromise—believe me: a ceasefire and the commencement of negotiations would already be a massive compromise. This hatred doesn’t just vanish. The Ukrainians need time, and they need justice in the face of the crimes committed by the Russians.
