My interview with @MichaelZucker1 where we primarily discuss his books 'The Eisenhower Chronicles' and 'The Middle Generation' (about John Quincy Adams). Michael is so knowledgeable about American history, and you will learn a TON! I know I did. youtu.be/mtIMZMxNPw8?si=qjzG…

I wonder, if in part, the reason for a lot of this irresponsibility is that there are virtually no more kids jobs (like paper routes) and dwindling teenager jobs.
The newer generations are unemployable, so I shut down a business yesterday. I have many small businesses I got involved in, one is a Saltwater fish store. It sells fish, corals, aquariums etc. The most profitable part of one of these stores is outside Maintenance. Going to peoples houses, changing the fish tanks water, cleaning glass etc. This is a very simple job, you run a hose in from the truck, suck water out, pump water in (nothing manual), and use a magnetic razor blade to clean the glass. Take a water sample and leave. We had 4 trucks and 6 guys doing this... then 5, 4, 3... each person that quit put more work on the ones left. We tried to hire, it's a very low skill job. Most maintenance guys make $15-18 an hour. We went upto $35 an hour to try and get people. Beyond that we cannot be profitable. The job is easy, you have to have a license (actually hard as hell apparently), and pass a background check (youre in peoples homes, also hard as hell). Pass a drug test. At $35 an hour we got the following. Someone that caused almost 8k of damage when they started pumping in water, went out "for a smoke" and the tank overflowed. At least 5 hires that went through background tests, drug tests etc then didn't show for work the 1st day and never called us again. Someone that intentionally pulled the guard off the water pumping hose, and sucked someones fish into the pump. Someone that scratched the District Attourney of las vegas, Steve Wolfson's tank by deciding to not use the magnetic razor, and "do it by hand"... fo no fucking reason. (4k bill) A wrecked van Someone who stole our water tester (1500 dollar machine). I have no empathy, at least in Las Vegas, for people complaining about no work, no jobs blah blah blah. $6000 a month to put hoses in and out of a tank and look at pretty fish.

*looking at the box for super mario bros on the nes* nice try but you're not going to trick me. back in the day CRT TVs smoothed out the pixels, so the games did not look like this. most people don't know that modern pixel art is emulating a style that has never existed

Hey! That's not true! My mom read it.
Writing a novel is such a funny thing to do. Sure let me spend three to five years making up a bunch of stuff that nobody is gonna read. That’s the ticket

β€œWhere was God when bad thing happen?” Ordaining the thing that happened. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ
True. Also, for the Christian nationalists: Where was your God last night? That’s what I thought. They can shout Christ is King all they want and disparage Jews and Israel but at the end of the day, godless communists and Sharia adherent Muslims are now in control of America. Where was God last night? Time for people to think about that.

My humble proposal: rename Imperial Units to International Units, then make world maps showing only the United States using International Units, to shame everyone else (but especially the Europeans).

Mainly because Republicans don't pass Republican policies when they're in power.

When you discover that cheating in elections is an American tradition, you should not despair, but include it within your calculation of who should win. Perhaps the cheater doesn't deserve his seat by cheating, but perhaps the opponent does not deserve to win if he cannot counter it.
Replying to @Kentuckygirl1
That's Lyndon B. Johnson in the 1948 Texas Democratic Senate primary runoff vs. Coke Stevenson. Six days later, Box 13 in Jim Wells County added 202 votes (200 for LBJ). Names were listed alphabetically in the same handwriting and ink. Election judge Luis Salas later admitted they were fabricated on orders from boss George Parr. Johnson won by 87 votes and later became president.

The good news for the Republican politicians who survive this blue wave is that they will be where they prefer to be anyway: the subservient minority.

Writers using AI, editors using AI, I'm sure publishers also use AI. But I'm safe. My books are only distributed via smoke signals. It's the only way to guarantee it's AI-free.

I woke up and my Grok Bot usage had gone back to what it probably it should have 62%. And I'm glad for that. But now I only have about 4 hours until my usage resets to use it all.
17
Ironic coming the day after Grok Bot arbitrarily jumped my weekly usage from 55% to 100% without any use. I used to love it until today.
Try Grok @Bot! You will love it. We land a few dozen fixes, features and sometimes powers to Bot 7 days a week and we look at your feedback to make Bot as perfect as possible.

This is actually horrible comms. Why aren't we being told directly that our usage was getting cut in half while we're in the middle of our week? Why are we being gaslit by Grok and it was just a reporting glitch and didn't actually affect usage? Why do I have to find an obscure post on X that doesn't explain anything about what happened and only causes unease about relying on grokbots in the future?
This is actually great comms but also RIP SpaceX investors tomorrow

So, I ended up sending a support request through email, and after giving the automated response some screen shots and details about when the spike happened I received this response: "This looks like something our team is already tracking, and the overnight jump to 100% without matching activity is the behavior it covers. Included usage can't be restored partway through a cycle, but the jump itself is what the team needs to look at. Just a heads up that we're seeing an unprecedented amount of volume of support requests right now. It may take 3-4 days for a human to get eyes on this ticket." My usage is set to reset on Monday, so I likely won't get any restitution for my lost usage or productivity this weekend, but I still requested a human review my claim. I'm very disappointed in @xai at the moment.
I was at 55% Grok Bot usage, getting a few things done, trying to use it all this weekend, and all of the sudden to spiked up to 100% and it says I'm out, but the Bots are still working like they have usage to spare. Anyone else come across this bug?
