I just open-sourced OpenReel Video - a professional video editor that runs 100% in your browser.
The open source alternative to capcut
No installation. No cloud uploads. No subscriptions. No watermarks.
Just drag, drop, and edit. Here's everything it can do 🧵

It is called OpenReel.
Drop a video in. Multi-track timeline. 20+ text animations. Beat detection. Color grading. Keyframe animations. Audio effects. No account. No subscription.
Here is what OpenReel does:

20+ text animations. Word-by-word reveals. Typing effects. Bounce. Fade. Slide. Built in.
Beat detection. Drop in a song. OpenReel finds the rhythm so you can cut on the beat.

Keyframe animations. Position. Scale. Rotation. Opacity over time.
Audio effects. EQ. Reverb. Compressor. Mix voiceover with background music cleanly.
Screen recording. Record screen, camera, or both. Built in.
Subtitle import. Drop an SRT file. Styled and synced.

I’ve poured countless hours into building OpenReel and Dory, keeping them free and open source.
If either project has helped you or you believe in what I’m building, I’d really appreciate your nomination.
