I don’t know who needs to hear this, but you’re allowed to have opinions—even strong and lightly-informed ones—on matters of public interest. Nobody can stop you, and anyone who tries to shame you about it should be roundly bullied. God bless America.

I've been pleased how easy asparagus is from seed. Good option for establishing large quantities, but crowns aren't really that expensive either.

I was driving a rental Elantra this week and it's insane how nice a new economy car is these days.

"Cars are about the same price in real terms that they've always been, and just keep getting better and better" is one of those real facts that will get everyone mad at you.

The actual reality is you spend your days bowing and scraping to curry favor from elderly men you despise, in the hopes that you'll one day manage to build a respectable life from the scraps they drop you.

It's remarkable how these guys have clearly never considered the actual position of single men in a patriarchal society. It's not like it's that hard to figure out, you can just read a book, or talk to people living in this reality today in any number of places.

Quitquioc, on the other hand, is both unique and euphonious, and unlike many WI place names is easy to read and pronounce.

I'm not generally one for changing long-settled names but this seems like an obvious mistake that should be rectified. Plymouth is about as bland and overused as American place names come. Nearly every state has one, and Wisconsin actually has two!

My hometown, like many in the upper midwest, consisted of a Yankee pioneer town adjacent to a preexisting Native settlement, and upon its organization narrowly decided to name itself Plymouth rather than stick with Quitquioc.

Or 10,000 years ago pigs stumbled upon what, to them, was equivalent to a superintelligent AI, and since have been used as food, often stuffed into cramped concrete stalls or metal pens, often unable to even turn around. A species as smart as dogs consigned to torture forever.
Fast keiner muss arbeiten. Für sie ist es echt gut gelaufen.

I still think about this piece about every other month. Seriously underappreciated how 2008 and the response to the financial crisis shaped the American political scene to this day, and he called it early. Such a shame he went nuts. businessinsider.com/coming-m…

Sidebar, but seems weird to call him a Samaritan. What he did was great, obviously, but I’m not really sure the concept quite covers heroic violence.

Exactly, it's just the one nearly everyone has experience with (and experience doing much less regularly as an adult) so it's a very useful reference.

8yo the other day, “Wait, is it pronounced breakfast or ‘bretflist’?” [this is how all the kids have said it, passed down from our first, and the younger two are on the cusp of losing it 😭] “I refuse to answer that question.”

Any other applications aside, this stunt easily pays for itself in maintaining Tesla’s ability to pay less and expect more from their employees. Seems like smart business to me.
