The issue here is not that a committee is formed (or for ex., a Pal Studies dept. Is endowed), the issue is that these are not “wins” and casting it as such is dishonest/unproductive for the movement!
The challenge many camps face now is ending with power and with transparency🧵

P.S. A quick reminder that the CAWS book is completely open access (i.e. available for free online), so you don't have to rely on anyone else's 'reading' (I think this is a generous term for certain engagements) you can just read it for yourself: taylorfrancis.com/books/oa-e…

Nearly ONE HUNDRED PROFESSORS killed--not one word from Western universities. One hundred professors.
We condemn with all our force Israel's killing of at least 94 Palestinian academics in Gaza. We mourn every one of our colleagues.
We find it unconscionable that virtually no western university has said a single word.

ALT Screenshot of the quoted tweet, showing the English translation: 'We documented the killing by the Israeli occupation forces of 94 Palestinian university professors hundreds of teachers, and thousands of students as part of the comprehensive crime of genocide that it has waged against the Gaza Strip since last October 7.'

Sharon James, the person who told me I could be a classicist, my dearest mentor and biggest cheerleader, my colleague, my friend, passed yesterday. It’s hard to imagine what I would be without her; just as hard to imagine what I will be without her. I love and miss her greatly – at Philadelphia, PA

It is in open access, but if you want a hard copy there is either hardback or a (relatively speaking) more affordable paperback (and we have discount codes too - ask any of us if you want one!).
Open access is here: taylorfrancis.com/books/oa-e…
