"a source familiar with levy's thinking" is such a funny way to background someone, let alone in a sentence immediately after claiming he had no comment, lmao
A staggering amount of fan piracy is happening at #Wicked, the latest blockbuster that represents an interesting turn in moviegoing behavior. Here's how some Hollywood execs are feeling about the shift taking place inside theaters: variety.com/2024/film/news/w…

i love the fact out's response to this going viral was to publish an interview with the interviewer "explaining" the clip which explained absolutely nothing

fine – but if my feed just turns into endless cringe prompt retweets like it did the first time around, i'm out

being named sexiest man alive must be so scary. sure, you get the gift of strangers online debating how fuckable you are, but then you have to spend every waking moment waiting until an assassin shows up so someone else can take on the mantle next year.

remember when emma thompson very publicly quit a skydance animation film because they hired john lassetter, then published a big ol' letter asking why anyone would want to work with him? this is his second film since then and I have similar questions. latimes.com/entertainment/la…

went and saw the substance again and watching it with a (full) audience who barely audibly reacted til the last half hour was slightly disappointing after seeing it with a massive crowd who gasped and giggled the entire time. anyway, my laugh was not made to be heard solo.

I know people gotta work, there's only so much work for performers, etc. etc. but it really bums me out seeing funny comedians doing gambling ads

if i was asked to do a light-hearted panel show as part of a concerted pr push to launder the pm's image after months of public criticism of his complicity and enabling of a genocide (series started filming 22 may) I would simply say no, but that's just me!
Thrilled to be on one of my favourite shows 🎶. Had a great time with Adam, Myf and Alan. Tune-in tonight at 7:30 on @ABCTV

putting All of Us Strangers under "inspired by true stories" is very funny. imagine watching it expecting a biopic or historical drama and reaching the ghosts. "drew on the writer's own relationship with his living parents to adapt a novel about grief" was too many characters.

rewatched death becomes her (a fave, showing my bf who'd never seen it) and i forgot that these divas show up, serve and are never mentioned again. i hope they have a whole dance interlude in the musical version. mid-scene, no context.

rewatching again with a first timer was a blast. it's zemeckis going full live-action cartoon after blending the two mediums in roger rabbit. every visual effect doubles as a sight gag, it's all about playing up comedic and unsettling visually.

watching death becomes her again after seeing the substance, it's funny seeing the same beats replicated. but the substance is if death becomes her was turned inward, instead of between two rivals. and dives even further into the macabre with its visceral approach to body horror.

put on some pants this morning that I thought fit well and made it onto the bus before I realised I definitely needed a belt, been in a constant state of near-embarrassment all day

cat sitting for a friend and someone in their building has an austin powers ring tone that keeps echoing through the halls every few minutes, incredible vibes

met my mum at a cafe in myer earlier and as I sat down looked around to see the only other people seemed to be two sets of 20-30 year old men wearing dangly earrings sitting across from 50+ year old women, so it turns out 12 pm is adult gay sons and mums catch-up hour.

randomly remembered this series of books I read as a kid, written in the second person with constant fourth wall breaking and silly jokes based around intentionally literal misinterpretations. found a copy online and it's like a forgotten missing link in my comedy taste origins.

so, so dumb, i devoured these. i still laugh every time a narrator says a character is going to say something then the actual character repeats it. formative joke structure.
