🚨#UPDATE: Toledo, Ohio, Officials have reduced the evacuation zone to a half-mile radius around 1266 Progress Ave. following the hazardous chemical leak.
Toledo Fire & Rescue has also LIFTED the 3-mile shelter-in-place order as of Wednesday evening. You may go outside if you want.. According the local news.
Officials say the chemical release involves glycidyl methacrylate, a flammable industrial chemical that leaked from a 5,500-gallon tank following an error during a transfer.
Authorities are allowing the chemical reaction to run its course, and the release could continue for several more hours. While the tank continues venting, first responders cannot safely approach the site.
The chemical can cause breathing difficulties, watery eyes, and irritation. Health officials have also warned about its potential long-term cancer risk.
Residents should continue following instructions from local authorities as the situation develops.
🚨#UPDATE: The FAA has issued a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) over the hazardous chemical leak in North Toledo, Ohio.
The restriction covers a 3-nautical-mile radius around the incident site as the chemical continues to vent into the air.
Firefighters were unable to contain the leak, and officials have decided to let the chemical reaction run its course rather than risk sending crews back in. The tank contains glycidyl methacrylate, an industrial chemical, and officials are continuing to monitor conditions.
Residents within 1 mile were ordered to evacuate, while those within 3 miles were told to shelter in place.

🇯🇵 Dashcam footage from Japan shows a bear trying to eat a car with a woman locked inside it
She was driving home from work in Hokkaido when a mother bear and her cub stepped out of the trees.
She hit the brakes to avoid them, and the mother went straight for the car, gnawing on the hood and shaking the whole vehicle until claws tore holes through the metal.
Fortunately, she walked away unhurt.
Stopping for that cub was the kind thing to do, and it nearly got her killed!

Vetted videos showing glacial collapse on Langtang Lirung mountain that caused Nepal–Tibet flash floods on Bhotekoshi river. 1st time I got good view of how much ice is still up there, breaking away.
Video One: Initial collapse & summary of entire disaster + info on new barrier lakes. Hikers attention drawn by loud cracking, filmed ice & rock break away, fall into valley below.
Video Two: A smaller secondary landslide that occurred about 3 hours later. Both collapses registered on seismographs.

Sat images now show two barrier lakes have formed near area of glacial collapse that caused Bhotekoshi River Flash flood. Risk of secondary flooding remains.
1st lake has begun draining, Fri morning China pulled rescue teams back from Gyirong Port temporarily.
2nd larger lake further upstream is still filling, a drone recorded a small avalanche that dropped ~50k cubic metres of ice debris into it. Rain forecast into mid-Sept.
