Rail regulators at ORR have again rejected bids to run more trains from Euston to Blackpool (Avanti West Coast), Wrexham (WSMR) and Rochdale (Lumo) citing lack of capacity at southern end of West Coast Main Line. This was same reason for July 2025’s rejection.

Welcome to the Darjeelingtank twitter feed. I'm being auctioned and a Trust has been set up to buy and operate me following my owner's sad death. I was built in 1889 in Glasgow's Atlas Works and we are starting fundraising. Please RT to spread the word.

This is the most wonderful locomotive on the most idiosyncratic little railway. The garden layout of the late Adrian Shooter. I so hope it finds a loving home.

Close-up: landslip at Hook with @NetworkRailWssx Not a lot holding that track in place… The plastic tube houses fibre-optic cables of considerable importance: this is a south of England artery in more ways than one.

We need to promote this vigorously given the short timescale, so please forgive me reposting it. If any of team RAIL felt inclined to retweet I’d appreciate that!
1/ Thanks to a superb collaborative effort between QRTC, Vivarail, Network Rail and Transport for Wales, I am delighted to announce that we are able to offer a rail connection into RAIL LIVE 2021 this week (Wed/Thurs June 16/17) from Honeybourne.

Bit of on train footage with cube. First go at this. I learned something. Some track is quite poor and shockingly laid. It also shows where I need to catch up with finishing off scenics. Any way. Watch out for the cat. 31111 goes to rescue 33206 (2 parts) #TMRGUK #CatsOfTwitter

Dear @VANS_66 @VANS_Europe - please don't use images of people on railway tracks in your advertising. We know only too well the devastating impact that trespass can have. Check our our #YouVsTrain campaign to find out more...we'd be happy to help. youvstrain.co.uk/

Serious incident at Bromsgrove last night. 66057, the banking locomotive to help heavy freight trains up the Lickey incline rolled down the hill and was derailed by the catch points. Stopping still half in the path of the mainline. It was hit by a XC 170 at 80mph and side swiped!

The gang involved in this near-miss were on zero-hour contracts and felt they could not complain about unsafe working practices because they would lose work and pay. This must be addressed from the very top of Network Rail.

I was wrong about RAIB near miss report. It's not exasperating, what happened that day was downright dangerous as this image of 125mph train 2 seconds from gang shows. No staff - track or driver - should be put in this position.
