"The First Palace" is a story I've been writing for a while now. About the birth of casinos in Las Vegas in the early 1950s. A story loosely set around that time. Following a woman leaving her strict Mormon upbringing for a job at the Paradise Casino -- where she discovers a taste for the life she was taught to fear. It's also a "microdrama" - maybe you can call it a... pocket-sized prestige drama. Since the episodes are somewhat longer than typical, and the plot doesn't try to overstimulate you with nonsense. It's a tempo I myself would like to watch. No more no less. It's also an attempt to use AI to produce something "normal". A show where people talk and interact with each other. No space aliens, skateboarding monkeys, music video inspired visuals. Something that hopefully doesn't burn you out after some minutes of watching. Just "acting!" - without actors. About writing a script and then producing the script. It's also an attempt to make something myself. You see AI made videos made for tens of thousands of dollars, made by huge teams. You see other videos churned out by an automated machine. This is something in between - one person, hand-made, made with a modest (but not insignificant) budget. How incredible is it that one person can make 25 minutes of drama all by himself in a month? Write, create, produce, edit, publish. How incredible, how dystopic. Both sides are true! But first and foremost it's just a story.
