About once a month I get a text from some number I don't recognize, with a question that is clearly intended to trick me into replying.
Some texted questions I've received lately include:
- "How come I can't get in touch with you?"
- "Are you off tomorrow?"
- "Sorry, I have your number in my contacts but can't place it. Who is this?"
- "Sorry could you tell me who you are? I have your number in my phone but no name saved"
- "Why does it always say the call cannot be completed when I try? Did you block me?"
And today:
- "Your car is blocking my driveway. Can you come move it ASAP?"
Clearly these people are fishing for a reply--any reply.
But why? What do they gain if I reply?
Patrick Mahomes has never had a non-redzone drive in a start before tonight.

Dear AirBnB host - NO ONE TRAVELS WITH THEIR OWN TOILET PAPER!! And supplying a spare roll of toilet paper is a minimal expectation. When I contact you at 9:00 at night after Iโve been there for two hours to ask if Iโm just overlooking where it may be, DO NOT tell me youโre happy to give me directions to the nearest store, or youโre getting one star. Saw 'Wicker' today & it was a fantastic movie.
Innuendo aside, it was really a wonderful delve into how people (men AND women) look at relationships - specifically how we let others influence us. A scene in the pub had people laughing but I didn't find it particularly funny.
One thing about this AirBnB thing โ my dad came to town in May & as he's 6'10", I decided to put him up in a place near me.
It was a GORGEOUS house. This is what it looked like & this was the message on the last day.
A+ Would recommend to anyone in my area.
This is the kind of thing I think about when I consider "tipping culture" because not EVERYTHING deserves a big tip or even a tip at all, but this is why I always tip my baristas, my takeout people, etc. Even a few bucks.
