Letter from @tascosoccer to the high school members this morning. As a part of the recent discourse regarding officials, we agree 100% with the TASCO board on treatment of officials, maintaining professionalism, and ensuring the spirit of competition. We cannot enjoy the beautiful game without them. Except....⬇️ 1. There is no system of accountability for officials actions. Nothing. 2. Coaches are consistently told to act with poise and professionalism. 3. Coaches are consistently reminded by @UIL, athletic directors and other stake holders for their behavior despite clear actions by officials. 3. A serious lack of ability to share post game ratings, film, clips or commentary for officials to view or watch film. Ideas for @TASCO, TASO, @uiltexas and the powers to be: 1. Build a rating system for coaches & officials, can be internal or external. Rewards based. Goes both ways where an official and a coach for a match can rate one another. 2. Communicate a sharing tool for video, clips, or full games that all coaches and officials can access. 3. Establish standards and accountability for playoff matches. 4. Enhance a reporting/scratching feature that indicates an official has been scratched X number of times or has incident reports. Everyone knows there are coaches who are out of line, but there are also officials who are out of line. There needs to be a better system that doesn't simply point fingers at coaches and demand better with zero accountability for other parties.
