Releasing ColGREP and LateOn-Code models 🚀
ColGREP is a multi-vector search tool built in Rust made for coding agents. It's an hybrid grep which supports both grep features and semantic retrieval. Run 100% locally.
You get two SOTA code retrieval model within ColGREP

1/ 💰Multi-vector retrieval shouldn’t charge you by the token!
🎉 Excited to share FLINT (Fixed-budget Late INTeraction), a late-interaction retriever designed for long, complex queries with up to 89% reduction in index and 23-170× faster retrieval latency.⚡
🎛️ FLINT gives a vector-budget knob to balance storage, latency, and quality.
📄 Paper: arxiv.org/abs/2610.27273
How does it work? 🧵
ColBERT stores and compares one vector per token. FLINT pools every query and every document into a fixed number of vectors, so there’s far less to store and far fewer comparisons at search time.

🔎 KURE might be the first major model suite to support all 4 Sentence Transformers model types!
Dense, sparse & multi-vector embeddings, plus rerankers, all for Korean & English.
And damn, the new 1.1B KURE-v3 is really good on English retrieval too 🧵

confession: i've yet to have that moment of feeling that frontier LLMs are geniuses, or super-human at ~anything broadly coherent that i deeply prize

run decider-1.2-flash locally:
you can now run perplexity's decider model locally on your mac. it's private, fast, and free, with no api key needed. pplx.ai/decider-for-mac
decider for mac runs pplx-decider-flash-v1.2, our 4B decision model, fully on device. ask a yes/no question about text or an image and get a probability back. after a one-time 5.8 GB download, it serves the decisions api at localhost:8080/v1/decisions.
use it to label files, route messages, check screenshots, or run pre-commit checks, without any data leaving your mac.

🧵 I've just released Sentence Transformers v6.2.0!
Featuring model merging with @arcee_ai mergekit, load models faster, & evaluators share work across GPUs automatically.
Plus lower-memory losses, multi-vector improvements & plenty of fixes.
Thread with highlights 👇

I have found that a lot of eval signals for D1 models were actually just the distribution moving around and thus just having a better/worst default threshold behaviour, but the AUC were actually the same/very similar
Tuning the temperature tries to get something more calibrated, but just tuning your threshold and looking at the behaviour of your model on your data goes a *very* long way
Also we face the traditional false positive/false negative trade off we are facing for classification tasks for very long, so tune it for your needs
We are very early in the decider model world, but just tuning the model for your case (threshold/prompt) can get you very large performance boost for free
Ultimately we want something more robust, but get used to look at your data and properly eval the models, it will always be useful

In most of our benches, Decider models (not only Jev, not only ours), are very strong rerankers, often stronger than the dedicated rerankers
Obviously there are very few 27B dedicated rerankers, but even the small ones are very good performance for their sizes
wow jev 1.14 is stupidly good as a reranker

🚀 @LightOnIO just released SlideOn & mSlideOn: 174M English and 339M multilingual sparse retrieval models.
Both work with Sentence Transformers, with adjustable query & document sparsity. mSlideOn also handles long documents & code.

very exciting piece of work! I think interpretability will end up being a major contributor to the field of retrieval
We surfed the dense and late-interaction waves… now it's time to SlideOn sparse retrieval 🐕

Replying to @paulomouraj @LightOnIO
The model performs incredibly well!
It scores lower than mDenseOn on my internal French benchmark where I'm certain there are no leaks. But in the Sparse category, it outperforms the Sparseup approach by more than 4 pts 🤯
I'm going to read your blogpost very very carefully 👀
Super valuable-information-dense blogpost on a super promising method. Congratulations!

I mean, when you know the authors you already know it's going to be insane, but honestly the blog post was so interesting
Stellar work, and very timely: the future is sparse, and getting strong sparse models easily with training SAE on top of dense/LI models is the way

We release SlideOn and mSlideOn at @LightOnIO today, two sota sparse retrievers, models designed by @paulomouraj and I.
Those models are really strong for first stage retrieval, you can add then a multi-vector model as a reranker and then a decision model 👇

We build those models from sota embeddings models we released earlier this year. We give a lot of details to the recipe in the HF blogpost available in @paulomouraj thread
Those results are obtained thanks to an heavy work on the data as well which we released earlier this year
