The past two weeks have seen the Trump administration essentially turn on Ukraine. This is a shameful, perfidious decision that harms American interests. Here's why it matters, and why, in the grand scheme of things, it might not.
My latest:

It's anti-democratic to want voting rules enforced neutrally & equally? Is that really the argument you want to make? Why bother having timed elections at all?
The only silver lining to this ridiculous appointment would be that it may convince liberals that the UN is a dumpster fire we should have less than nothing to do with.
New: Sources from three countries confirm that the Trump Administration has advocated Viktor Orbán for UN Secretary-General.
The US has encouraged Orbán to enter the race, even bringing him the initial idea of a joint U.S.-Russia-China candidacy.

I'm glad you said included "right-wing" in your description of "undemocratic extremists," otherwise I would have thought you were describing Lula.
Lula wins reelection in Brazil! Flavio Bolsonaro loses, in what I hope is an omen for the fate of undemocratic right-wing extremists worldwide. nytimes.com/live/2026/10/25/…
And yes, Lula is an authoritarian who loves other authoritarians. Unless, as I wrote for @NRO, they are aligned with America. Then he despises them.

I am very much inclined to believe that these results are corrupt, but I'm not sure what can be done about it.
Brazil under Lula is unfriendly to American interests at best & nearly hostile at worst. But we may just have to live with it for now, limiting & containing the damage.
Lula put his own former lawyer on the Supreme Court.
He asked the courts for voting to be extended by 2 hours. Skipped the court that should decide it and had that same former lawyer unilaterally decide to order it 2 minutes before polls close.
BUT only for places that still had voting open, which were mainly Lula strongholds that were aware of the request and waited for it to be granted.
This isn't just optics. They knew exactly what they were doing. It's open corruption.
I am indeed a confirmed Lula hater, but that's not coloring my view of the corruption that seems obvious here. He is bad for America (and Brazil), no matter whether he was elected legitimately or not.

Was only able to catch part of it (kids, of course), but I was stoked to see my beloved Montreal Canadiens best the Winnipeg Jets in the 2026 Heritage Classic. Absolutely love the NHL outdoor games & it's great to see my team come out on top.

Hear me out: let them storm the gates & get inside. Then close the gates & let loose the wild animals. Sell it on pay-per-view.

Sadly, this is where we're at with most commercial products that require an account. People have been de-banked, cut off from internet services, & otherwise hampered from using products that they've paid for for years now.
It's shitty, but how the modern world works.
I would much rather live in a world where companies allowed anyone who pays to use their service unimpeded. We haven't lived in that world in a long time. At least since Covid.
Buzz Lightyear thought he was a real space ranger, but he was just a toy.
JB Pritzker thinks he's a real presidential contender, but he will come to realize that he's just a rich dude who runs America's most corrupt political system.
The left doesn't have an antisemitism problem, right?
