That is precisely how indigenous products should be designed, tested and inducted, as we have seen in the Railways. The minister himself setting manufacturing benchmarks and advocating the product for exports right from the initial stages is the right approach to developing an indigenous MIC. Unfortunately, we have witnessed an entirely antithetical approach from the above-mentioned. MoD must learn a few lessons from the Railway Minister, at least now.
