Ridley Scott says Rutger Hauer wrote his own Blade Runner death speech and brought it to him at 1 a.m. on the night they were pulling the plug on the shoot "they're gonna pull the plug on me. This is my last night." "I've written a speech. Can you come around to my trailer? I want you to hear it." "there were tears that came to my eyes" "I said, dude, we have to do it." One of the most quoted speeches in sci-fi came from the actor, not the script, on a night the director thought was his last. Scott's only move was to say yes. Plenty of directors would have protected their pages and lost the scene. ft: @Collider Collider Interviews on youtube
