You have read the research over and over again...that FORMING POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS with students is one of the biggest factors attributed to a child’s success. If so, then why on earth do we place 30+ students in any classroom in America with little to no teacher support? 🤔😕

➡️PSA #1: “SPED kids” are “Gen. Ed kids” first. Just because a student has an IEP does not mean we stop problem solving on how to reach them in Tier 1 and 2 first. The end goal is for the student to no longer need special education services. The only way this happens is when the student receives solid Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 instruction every single day. ➡️PSA #2: Kids who have an IEP are not “SPED Kids.” They are students who have a disability. How we describe our students matters.

Schools will talk a big game about creating emotional “safe spaces” but won’t suspend, expel, or punish the children who make schools physically unsafe. Kids can’t focus because they’re worried about what fight will break out today between their classmates
