What I want to know: which are the 38% of distrssed loans that are rated B- or higher?
Distressed leveraged loans ($131B priced below 80) are at the HIGHEST level since May 2020
But this time, the composition is worse:
- 62% rated CCC+ or lower (vs. 25% in March 2020)
- 53% are maturing in 3 years (vs. 11% in 2020)
- A whopping $54B of CCC loans trade below 80 (tops both the GFC and Covid)
2026 is different because its concentrated in fundamentally weak borrowers whereas 2020 was really a market-wide selloff (which swept up even healthy credits)
