I've written about small plants for small places over at open.substack.com/pub/goodin…

Today planting ultra-late leeks, digging out another barrow of wellrotted, setting out little garden plantlets to grow on & spent time under here too, reading books from 60s and 70s that were about organic & sustainable growing. Asking - why did it take me so long to catch up?

Beautiful morning in Front Garden and hard to choose best in show…maybe this cour combo? #goodinthegarden

Blackbird for ‘I found this Ameliancher bush & its got berries on & I’m not shifting til they are ready.’ Sound on.

Rosa Albertine flowers but once - through June - but I’m appreciating its scented moment this morning #goodinthegarden

Reading all of Paradise Lost, tiny bit by tiny bit! @thereaderorg

Some lovely blue tones in #goodinthegarden tonight

Last year this flamboyant poppy, Beauty of Livermere, was abuzz with intoxicated bees rolling in the purple pollen but this year not a one… not so #goodinthegarden

Update: Dr J’s operation has gone well and the extra support seems to be appreciated.

Dr Jamain has had an operation to address his frail legs problem. There will be an update tomorrow. #goodinthegarden

New Policy: R.Albertine will be planted wherever there’s a shrub or vertical. Bees adore him and scents of sherbert, summer and vanilla sugar are heady & uplifting. #goodinthegarden

Glory in the morning #goodinthegarden so much quietly living here

More tiny readings of Paradise Lost here... if you've never read it, and don't think you could... join me!

Bees enjoying Cirsium Rivulare at the allotment. Nothing to feed me but the pleasure of watching them.
