Fujimoto was fully integrated into the inner circle of the Kim dynasty and everything. Kim Jong-Il would take him on hunting trips and shit. He was the only guy that could get away with bantering with Kim Jong-Il, and it made Kim Jong-Il like him more because he was authentic.

Fujimoto eventually escaped North Korea and went back to Japan (for obvious reasons). But after Kim Jong-Il died and Kim Jong-Un took over, Kim Jong-Un invited him back, and he actually took the offer. So now Fujimoto presumably still lives in North Korea.
