Catholic Priest Burnt Inside His Car.
Fr. David Tanko of the Diocese of Jalingo was killed in Taraba State in late August 2019.
Ordained in 2008, he was traveling toward a peace meeting aimed at easing tensions between the Tiv and Jukun communities when he was ambushed in the Kufai Amadu area of Takum. Attackers killed him and set both his body and vehicle on fire, leaving him burned beyond recognition.
Local residents who witnessed the attack later described him as a servant of the Church who gave his life while trying to promote reconciliation. In the years since, his death has been remembered alongside those of other Nigerian priests killed amid the country’s ongoing insecurity, with many continuing to pray for the repose of his soul and for greater protection for clergy and communities still facing violence.
May he rest in peace.

The latest Scanlon Foundation Mapping Social Cohesion report has completely exposed the disastrous reality of the Albanese Labor government’s borders.
We are witnessing a 20 year high in voter opposition to immigration, yet Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and his Home Affairs / Immigration Minister Tony Burke continue to sleepwalk through this crisis, utterly blind to the damage they are inflicting on our nation.
Look at the wreckage under Albanese and Burke’s watch:
• Crushing Cost of Living: 36% of Australians name the cost of living as the country’s biggest problem. Labor is fueling this fire by pumping endless numbers of people into a severe housing shortage.
• Social Cohesion is Imploding: The report directly links these extreme migration numbers, and the failure to manage them, to skyrocketing community tensions.
Under this government, antisemitism is surging, culminating in horrific, tragic events like the Bondi attack in December 2025.
• Complete Voter Disconnect: Opposition to these numbers has exploded to 93% among One Nation voters and a clear 66% majority of Coalition voters.
Even Labor's own base is fracturing.
While Pauline Hanson and One Nation are leading the charge with common sense policies to slash temporary visa holders by 750,000, Albanese and Burke are doing nothing but offering weak excuses.
They are actively ignoring the 60% of Australians who are crying out for a pause to catch our breath.
Labor’s reckless open door approach is destroying the Australian dream, breaking our economy, and tearing our social fabric apart at the seams.
Albanese and Burke have failed.
