40 years of EU benefits were swept under the carpet. We had grown to take them for granted. They were in fact the result of decades of clever negotiation from within.

Yes Liz Farage said many times that the UK could be like Norway , Norway is in the Single Market So rejoining the SM should not be a problem in any way And FOM comes with that

The public, unfortunately, voted to leave. What did that mean? The 3 main reasons for people voting leave were to end FoM, end the jurisdiction of the ECJ, and end EU payments. That meant there could be no Single Market or Customs Union. Soft Brexit was always a myth.

The lies and tap dancing start again. Except now there's been 10 years of PROOF that brexit was a disaster. No ifs. No promises of green lands. Just tax avoiding and overseas movement for the rich #CouldntTrustToriesThenOrNow

The Leave campaign and subsequent Brexit implementation was a case of make-it-up-as-you go-along, they had NO PLAN because they thought they would lose. We really need a proper Brexit inquiry to establish how flawed the process was, so this sort of thing can never happen again.

Brexit was an ill-defined 🦄 that promised to be all things to all people. Lower immigration AND easier travel. More sovereignty AND frictionless trade. More money AND no economic cost. Higher standards AND fewer regulations. A Norway-style relationship for some, a clean break for others. It over-promised relentlessly and created an imaginary destination that was never remotely achievable. There was never one agreed Brexit. What was real was the economic consequence of putting new barriers between Britain and its largest neighbouring market. We have now lived with the result long enough to see it: weaker trade, weaker investment, damaged supply chains and greater vulnerability in food and energy. At some point refusing to repair Brexit stops being respect for the 2016 vote. It becomes a conscious decision to live permanently with the damage. We now know more than we did ten years ago. Democracy allows us to change course.

Leaving the Single Market was not on the ballot.

VoteLeave "won" but it was Theresa May that fucked us all over...her rush to write the Article50 letter (encouraged by Farage and Corbyn, remember) plus her subsequent "red lines" were a disgrace. Even though we should not have left anyway...

The rewriting of 2016 needs challenging. ❌ The referendum ballot did NOT ask: “Should Britain end freedom of movement?” It asked whether Britain should remain in or leave the EU. Nothing about leaving the Single Market. Nothing about the customs union. Nothing about ending free movement. And during the referendum prominent Brexit campaigners openly cited Norway and Switzerland as models for Britain outside the EU. 🇳🇴 Norway is in the Single Market and accepts free movement. The Leave coalition contained several completely different versions of Brexit. The public was never asked to choose between them. So it is simply not accurate to retrospectively turn 17.4 million Leave votes into 17.4 million votes specifically against free movement. That interpretation came afterwards. And if Britain is now deciding what relationship it wants with Europe, voters are perfectly entitled to decide again with the actual choices made explicit.

7⃣ Nigel Farage passionately defended the idea that we could be like Norway, a Single Market country, in 2016.

🔴BORIS JOHNSON: Russia - So Many Questions .@borisjohnson was that the same security services you dumped to visit ‘ex’ KGB colonel Alexander Lebedev and party in Umbria just after the Novichok Salisbury attack❓ Or the same security services whose advice you defied to put his son Evgeny in the House of Lords? Those security services❓- @peterjukes @Conservatives
This is just not true. As soon as I became foreign secretary I asked the security services the same question and they replied that there was no evidence of any successful interference in the 2016 referendum, by Russia or any other power. Either the security services have changed their view - which would be very odd - or Burnham is lying about what he has been told. After all Starmer was in power for two years and had access to exactly the same information. theguardian.com/technology/2…

Elon Musk is paying for Tommy Robinson's legal costs, £200,000 just for today. Robinson's owner is a billionaire economic migrant from South Africa. Who is Trump's little bitch. What does that make Robinson? The bitch of a bitch.
