it's important to be loud and call out the hate and bigotry online (and in person), but also remember some people are just willfully hateful. protect your peace and sanity and don't engage when they start spewing their ignorance π©·

knowing the history of dance music is so important. this scene was built off the backs of trans and queer POC as a safe haven from the racist and homophobic world we exist in. dance music is inherently political and to double down instead of listening to this community is insane
As many of you know, I had the honor of performing at the @POTUS Inauguration Ball.
Since then, Iβve received backlash from several prominent members of the music community. While I anticipated some pushback, the intensity of the response has been far greater than I expected.
A matter of fact: I am a proud American. The freedoms we have in this country make it possible for me to pursue my passionsβwhether as a founder, a CEO, or a musician.
My pride should not be used as a vessel for other peopleβs anger. This is exactly the behavior that has divided us. I am unwavering in my decision to focus my music and my work on things that continue to push our country forward. Progress comes from working together, not against each other.
I believe firmly in both free speech and the acceleration of tech innovation. These principles have been integral to my identity. I also see crypto and blockchain technology as monumental forces essential to our future as a nationβforces that the previous administration opposed.
This administration favors many aspects of the vision I hold for our future; while no oneβs values will ever fully align with those of any president or party, I stand by my choice.
And, for the record, I am grateful to participate in our democracy.
to think if i had just ignored that bump on my neck in 2011 i wouldn't have had to live thru two tr*mp terms

all branches of the US government uniting across the aisle to ban a social media app this quickly while ignoring school shootings for years, ignoring womenβs health, healthcare, homelessness, etc etc should radicalize the fuck out of you btw π€

if your reaction to the tiktok ban is "well now influencers have to get real jobs" and not "wow this is a terrifying display of censorship," i am begging you to reach into the deepest recesses of your brain and dust off those critical thinking skills
