I love that David Bowie's and Brian May's reactions were captured when Annie Lennox gives it everything, and that George Michael singing along in the back! Fantastic video and the very best music.

When we introduced the marketplace into neurodevelopmental assessments, something fundamental shifted. When there is a profit to be made from convincing people they might be autistic or have ADHD, then we are all at risk of overmedicalisation. It is in the interest of private providers to expand their audience. Once the demand is there, the incentives are to carry out assessments as cheaply as possible. And that can mean poor quality assessments leading to life long diagnoses. bmj.com/content/395/bmj-2026…

This was an emotional interview for me to do. @joshxhowie saw my mood was quite different as he greeted me into the studio. I think what he saw was my deep shame at what the Green Party had become and I felt particularly assailed by it because he as a Jew was most directly impacted by it. It still feels raw what has happened today. What's genuinely terrifying is the idea that members of a political association have organised intensely for the best part of a year to drive this antisemitic motion through and they were facilitated if not encouraged throughout. They did not take no for an answer in Spring and the short-termist sabotage tactics of the Party elites did not work a second time. Instead the internal opposition was too little too late and could never have been effective for the primary reason that groupthink intransigence had already been baked in. The Green Party is an actual danger to Jews. They are an actual danger to society. It's said the road to hell is paved with good intentions, I'm not even sure of the good intentions at this point. @GBNEWS

This needs to be against the law.
Ah yes, the "miracle" of surrogacy yet again... A couple orders triplets through surrogacy and then... oops... discovers that three babies are “too overwhelming,” so now they’re considering putting one up for adoption. Imagine manufacturing three children by contract, then deciding one of them is surplus to requirements. This is what happens when children are treated like products: ordered, delivered, and disposable when inconvenient. What a grotesque nightmare. End surrogacy.

In my view it’s a bit odd for the BBC to use the very sad occasion of Esther Rantzen’s death to encourage campaigners to put across the contested case for assisted dying unchallenged in interviews.

We instituted an official AI Writing Policy at @Clay. Massive thanks to @sophiebits on our engineering team who wrote this. Originally this was just for eng, but other teams found it so helpful we expanded it company-wide. Here are the four guiding principles: 1. You must stand behind every idea and sentence It is your responsibility to make sure that the entire document is representative of your own thoughts before you share it. 2. Writing is thinking Spending time on the writing process teaches you more about your topic. If you circumvent this process, you will walk away with a poorer understanding of the subject matter. 3. More time should be spent writing a document than consuming it If you generate a document from a short prompt then ask your readers to go through the longer output, you are disrespecting their time. They can talk to ChatGPT themselves if they want to. 4. Longer is not better AI makes it easy to generate long docs, and it loves padding them with sentences that say nothing. If you're producing docs from a short prompt, consider just sharing the prompt. You can read (and borrow) the full policy below. Hopefully we all communicate a bit more clearly now :)

There’s something wrong with inclusivity if, by including more people, we lose sight of the needs of the most vulnerable. I’ve recently read books called things like the ‘ultimate handbook’ or ‘everything a parent needs to know’ about neurodivergence and autism which make no mention at all of those who are severely autistic. They are simply not included. Nothing about self-injurious behaviour, or eloping, or minimal speech. Nothing about how to reach a child who seems uninterested in you or other people. Nothing about extreme repetitive behaviour or pica. Nothing about cognitive delay or aggression. Instead they write about anxiety, and school distress, and trauma. I’m not saying that these things aren’t important. Of course they are (and I often write about them myself) but it should not be possible to publish a book which claims to cover everything, while leaving out the very people who cannot speak up to say ‘we are missing’. This is not inclusivity.

Looking at two families being torn apart still by loss pain & I think lingering grief, I’m struck again by an oversight. Why do we all treat Prince William as though he was less impacted due to his age? He was a child too. He wasn’t as young as his brother but he wasn’t an adult.

I have not read this because I can’t be bothered. A period of quiet reflection and a goal to be a better legislator or get another job is in order. She should just be quiet.
I have reflected at length about what happened in Parliament on Friday. Thank you to everyone who has contacted me with their heartbreaking personal stories and campaigned on this issue for far too long. I am so sorry. Please see my statement below. Many thanks, Kim

Cadbury in the US is made by Hershey. It has been since 1988, under license, with Hershey's own recipe. The first ingredient in a British Dairy Milk is milk. The first ingredient in the American one is sugar. The American bar also has PGPR and soy lecithin in it, emulsifiers that stretch shelf life. In 2015 Hershey sued the largest importer of British candy in the country. They settled, and the settlement cut off British made Cadbury, along with UK KitKats, Yorkies, Toffee Crisps and Maltesers. The wrapper looks the same, but the bar is certainly not, and since 2015 the real one is hard to find here.

There is exactly one month until Tee Jay’s petition to protect the legal rights of disabled children and young people closes on 14 October. Will you help by personally asking five people to sign today? We’re almost halfway there. Let’s do this! petition.parliament.uk/petit…

Lived experience more important than legislating properly. And that’s not the lived experience of the disabled, anorexic girls or people in coercive relationships of course. Who’s bothered about them when Ester Rantzen doesn’t get what she wants.

.@AshleyDalton_MP makes a brilliant point. If the Bill’s sponsors wanted to bring forward a safe Bill, why didn’t they spend the summer working with Royal Colleges to improve it? The only answer is they care more about forcing this Bill into law, than safety.

This might sound small but the fact the bill supporters keep saying ‘people with a disability’ isn’t small. The language of legislation is disabled people.

I never want to hear her on the radio again. Back to personal training she should go…
Excellent news. Now let's fund palliative and hospice care properly and may we never have to hear from Leadbeater and Falconer again.

Publishing this the day before the vote .. doesn't seem very impartial BBC. If she'd gone when she got her terminal diagnosis she'd have died years ago. No one elected her and no party put this in their manifesto. I'm very sorry she's ill but sick of this emotional manipulation.

It’s indefensible the #AssistedDying Bill is back. After all that’s been said about better palliative care, all the concerns of professional bodies & disability groups, all the unresolved questions. It feels as if the point is now to win an argument, not get the best outcome.
