Something I’ve been thinking about in terms of this idea of ‘lack’ is that I don’t think it’s the subject who lacks. It’s the environment that the person comes into that lacks. It is nature & nurture themselves who lack. The subject becomes the force of life in a lacking world.
Freud's move from seduction theory to infantile sexuality is one that allows us to conceptualize how, perhaps irreversibly, awful child sexual abuse truly is. Introducing adult sexuality where infantile sexuality persists is a horror that is ontologically unimaginable to adults.

If you discuss categories of “personality,” then this is American psychology. Much of American psychoanalysis is American psychology, minus all but “personality.” The difference between therapies in the US is often minuscule, because they are equally theoretically superficial.
Love how much he tweets. God needs to let us know he’s suffering with too many ideas as much as we need to let him know the same, & Bobby is his means to do so.

“… every therapeutic process
initiated by a physician; most frequently it is favourable to recovery, but

Trump: "I take an aspirin a day. I don't know if it works but psychologically I need it. It thins the hell out of your blood I guess. I don't know if it works or not but I've been doing it for a long time. And here I am making speeches. I like Bayer aspirin. And I take the big one. They want me to go down to the 80. I take the 386. I don't know what the hell it is. It's a monster. They said, 'Sir, you don't need that!' I said, do me a favor, I've been doing okay for 35 years. Leave me alone."
I find Solm’s work important (& the RSE is a masterpiece) but it also contributes to this larger discourse—or maybe is an effect of it—that theories of the psyche are only taken seriously if they are proven scientifically. Can we take Freud seriously if we cannot prove him?
