guys, i honestly do not like clowning on Gary. I don't find being the butt of a joke funny, so I imagine he does not either. But, this is what worries me about where we are going. We are actively encouraging an entire generation that the tech is there when its not, and a couple of silly mistakes made on a website isn't the end of the world, but people's data and breaches are serious. We are entering a very VERY hackable world, and I do not like it one bit.
so... I audited Garry's website after he bragged about 37K LOC/day and a 72-day shipping streak. here's what 78,400 lines of AI slop code actually looks like in production. a single homepage load of garryslist.org downloads 6.42 MB across 169 requests. for a newsletter-blog-thingy. 1/9🧵

In the coming days, employers will see a stream of resumes of once-in-a-lifetime quality folks. An important thing to understand is that Epic never lowered our hiring standards as we grew, and the layoff wasn't a performance-based "rightsizing" as companies call it nowadays. It's a sound bet that anyone with Epic Games on their resume is in the top few percent of their discipline.
Sad news for Epic Games. Hope the efforts to turn things around can work. gamesbeat.com/epic-games-lay…

. @GuildWars2 @ArenaNet You know what'd be a great 21st anniversary present next year is letting steam GW2 accounts link their GW account. I didn't know this limitation when I made mine and it's extremely sad having spent hundreds of hours in both games.

NO FEES on web transactions. Game over for the Apple Tax. Apple’s 15-30% junk fees are now just as dead here in the United States of America as they are in Europe under the Digital Markets Act. Unlawful here, unlawful there. 4 years 4 months 17 days.
Northern District of California court has ruled on the Epic v Apple anti-steering injunction’s contempt of court proceeding! Details incoming!

I keep hearing on podcasts all these people raving about how AI is revolutionizing programming and I just don't see it. At all. (I think this may happen eventually, but what is being done right now is not really on the path to it). Originally I thought, okay, these are just people who don't understand programming saying this stuff. It'll fizzle out once people try it and realize it doesn't work that well. But that was almost 2 years ago and it is still going, and the claims keep getting bigger.

Do not pay for an "AI software engineer" unless you can farm it for content

AI is a scam
If one goes to an "in network" hospital and then gets a $100K bill why is it the patient's responsibility to have to go through a series of stressful appeals w insurance while recovering just because a specific procedure was coded incorrectly by the provider or auto denied by AI?

AI is a scam...
I kid you not, @itchio has been taken down by @OriginalFunko because they use some trash "AI Powered" Brand Protection Software called @BrandShieldltd that created some bogus Phishing report to our registrar, @iwantmyname, who ignored our response and just disabled the domain

Considering the spaghetti they probably deal with for leagues 3 hours late isn't so bad ☠️
📢 We're happy to confirm that Leagues V: Raging Echoes will launch at 15:15 GMT (~15 minutes from now)! We've tried our best to mitigate any load issues when logging in, and your continued patience is much appreciated. Thank you.

AI will be a huge upsell opportunity for platforms and operating systems. Take me, for example: I’d be gladly pay hundreds of dollars just to turn this new garbage off!
