ALT Jamie Wubben from Universitat Politècnica de València spent two months at Beyond Vision in Lisbon as part of the REMARKABLE project. Jamie's secondment at Beyond Vision during October and November 2023 was a significant contribution and learning period. Initially, he spent time acquainting himself with the team and the company's objectives, sharing insights from his thesis to establish a mutual understanding of his expertise. The team collaboratively identified three potential projects, ultimately choosing to focus on automating multi-UAV survey missions. Jamie dedicated his efforts to researching path planning for multi-UAV missions and successfully developed and tested an automation code, incorporating a vital collision avoidance mechanism. In the later stages, he transitioned from simulations to real-world drone trials, enhancing data utility by merging GPS information for comprehensive mapping.

ALT ICONIC centre (Centre for Intelligent Communications, Networking and Information Processing) at the Faculty of Technical Sciences, University of Novi Sad, collects significant expertise in the domain of IoT networks, 5G and beyond systems, UAV-based communications and sensing, signal processing and machine learning and hardware design and implementation. In REMARKABLE, ICONIC will lead WP2 on Ultra Wide-Area IoT Networks. This includes development of tailored IoT platforms for various environmental monitoring use cases, on-board data processing using efficient ML methods, and wide-area wireless connectivity including range extensions helped by drones.
