Anyone making money from the pornification of girls’ school uniform should be subject to serious sanctions These girls are right. It shouldn’t be up to them to fight this, but I support them in doing so

We’re teenage girls fighting to ban the use of school uniform in porn. Why have you left it up to us? No one should have to feel nervous about walking to school in clothes designed for children. It’s time for law to end the sexualisation of minors theguardian.com/commentisfre…

It’s been almost a whole year since we first exposed @Amazon selling child sex abuse dolls. We’ve found headless child sex abuse dolls, replica child body parts like disembodied heads, legs, and torsos, and sex abuse dolls modelled on toddlers. Some dolls are photographed wearing children’s clothing, with pigtails, holding teddy bears and stuffed animals. Others are overtly marketed as “flat chested”. Product descriptions emphasise their realistic textures – that their use feels “similar to real intercourse” – and provide specifications on the depth of their vaginal, oral and anal orifices. Quick action: sign the petition to ask Amazon to stop selling child sex abuse dolls. From the organizers' write-up: "These products aren’t a harmless fantasy – they fuel men’s abuse of actual children. In research for my book .... I documented countless reported cases where men found in possession of child sex abuse dolls sexually offended against actual children. They used the dolls to practice. Amazon claims to have “strict policies” against child sex abuse dolls, yet the corporation continues to advertise and sell them." change.org/p/amazon-stop-sel…

Some thoughts on surviving the sex industry. 4 things I would say to my teenage self: 1) Don’t sell sex. You can and it will feel easy to start with and it won’t feel like your body but it is and you only get one. 2) The men will want you and you’ll feel attractive but you actually don’t care about that, you’ve just been programmed to think you do. 3) The money won’t last. You’ll earn a lot but you’ll spend even more to make up for the hurting. 4) You will get hurt. And in years to come you will still be thinking of all the times you said no. Jenna

Amazon has “strict policies” against child sex abuse dolls, they claim. We found this 100 cm doll – the size of a 3-4-year-old girl – in March. Eight months later, it is still being advertised on the platform.

The Government has responded to the schoolgirls campaigning to ban school uniforms from porn. Pupils from The Cooper School in Bicester started a petition after saying their uniforms had become “inherently sexual”. It now has 26,000+ signatures. Victims Minister Alex Davies-Jones told Metro: “Young women and girls should not have to grow up seeing their school uniforms sexualised, and I commend these pupils for speaking out.” She says the law is changing so that porn showing an adult pretending to be a child under 16 will be an imprisonable offence. The campaigners say that leaves a gap: they want school uniform banned from porn altogether. You can sign here: vist.ly/5m2he

#SexIndustryArticles How is child marriage still legal in the U.S.? archive.is/wHv58 "Every three seconds, on average, a girl under the age of 18 is married somewhere in the world. In India. In Ethiopia. And, to our shame, in Illinois, Maryland, Colorado — and most of America. Thirty-two states still allow child marriages in some circumstances, such as with the permission of a parent or a judge. Two states, New Mexico and Mississippi, have no minimum age at all. Some of the defenders of child marriages in America are religious groups on the far right, but as a liberal myself, I find it deeply dispiriting that in a number of states they are joined by left-leaning organizations such as the local affiliates of the American Civil Liberties Union and Planned Parenthood — even, in Illinois, the National Organization for Women. That’s right: Some progressives and feminists fight to defend child marriage, usually on the basis of “child rights.” I shake my head in disbelief: If you actually talk to girls and women who have been married young, what you often hear is the opposite of empowerment. Instead, it’s oppression and rape and the loss of education and childhood. For progressive organizations to ally themselves with right-wing extremists to defend what sometimes amounts to state-sanctioned statutory rape — this is liberal self-caricature. Thankfully, child marriage has just been banned in California, after a nine-year battle that should never have taken so long. Ten days ago Gov. Gavin Newsom of California signed a bill banning all child marriage in the state, in the presence of Courtney Stodden, a model and singer who was married at 16 to a 50-year-old actor who she says was abusive; he has denied that. Previously, there was no minimum age for marriage in California, so long as a parent and judge consented. Progressive groups, including the state affiliates of the A.C.L.U. and Planned Parenthood, had worked to block passage of a ban, but opposition melted when the issue drew more attention. As a longtime foreign correspondent for The Times, I often saw girls in Africa or South Asia married to older men; like most people, I saw this as a human rights issue. But in 2017 I realized, to my astonishment, that the same was happening in the United States — and at that time every single state allowed children to be married. That year I interviewed a Florida woman, Sherry Johnson, who was married at 11 to a 20-year-old man, a member of her church, who had raped her. Johnson had become pregnant, child welfare authorities were investigating, and her parents and church wanted to avoid a messy criminal case. “I guess you’re just going to get married,” she recalled her mother telling her."
