That’s a wrap on Day 1! 🇹🇿
Today set the stage for 2 more days of activities for the Mobile App Technical Consultations, introducing local youth leaders from Tanzania to the AU-EU Youth Voices Lab programme, the YVL App, and our co-creation approach.
Here’s what we did:
🔹 Team introductions
🔹 Programme and achievements overview
🔹 A deep dive into the App’s functions, progress, and challenges
🔹 Youth feedback on language diversity, rural inclusion, gender responsiveness, and accessibility
🔹 Group work across 4–5 thematic tables to propose new features
As @Peaxeyin, Mobile App Project Manager from @youthmakershub, reflects on today's results:
💬 “Today, young people made their voices heard on areas to improve the AU-EU Youth Voices Lab Mobile App for wider inclusion, accessibility, and sustainability for everyone. We prioritized the ‘need-to-have’ improvements over the ‘nice-to-haves.’”
Stay tuned for 2 more days of work and impact! 👀

For Flora, being part of this workshop means contributing her perspective and learning from other young people as they work together to make the app more relevant to their needs.

For Michael, it is an opportunity to be part of a process that puts young people’s voices, needs and perspectives at the centre of the app’s development.

Hope Ezra Mukwinda is excited to be part of this workshop, where young people’s recommendations from are being brought to life, ensuring their ideas and perspectives help shape the app and how it serves young people across Africa and Europe.

Who decides where the money goes? Who carries the risk when an idea is still untested? And whose priorities ultimately determine what gets funded?
Those questions sat at the centre of many of the conversations on Day 1 of the Tanzania National Philanthropy Forum
The discussions looked at domestic capital, community philanthropy, flexible funding and the conditions needed for locally led organisations to build and sustain their work.
