“Used to” it still does
I legit dropped the One Piece manga after Wano because it drained me.
Pre and post time skip just are not the same story anymore, and it pains me to say, but I genuinely couldn't care less what happens to these flanderized chessboard pieces they once called characters. I didn't start this series for hype moments and aura, and that's all it is now when it's not ten flashbacks layered on top of one another. One Piece legit used to have strong character writing. Like, dawg, Zoro is so fucking one-note now that he's on the same wavelength as Homer Simpson going "mmm, beer"

This is one of the most apocalyptic spreads in shonen jump history
Absolutely insane presence and design, incredible sense of scale
Imu's design here looks closer to a fallen angel
Something straight outta DMC 4

Oda’s art is a testament to mastering your own style. People are truly missing out. Better artist do exist…but no one does it like Oda

For some reason, Luffy left the centre of the battle against Imu and made his way all the way to the "West village".
You see, the protagonist of Dragon Ball, Son Goku, actually gets his name from the classic novel "Journey to the West".
In that story, a monkey sets out on a journey to a distant, legendary land known as Tenjiku.
Now, Tenjiku is an ancient Japanese name for the Indian subcontinent. And in Japanese historical and religious contexts, it refers to the sacred Buddhist land located far to the "west".
So, perhaps "Nika" was also heading west, just like the monkey in Journey to the "West", which might explain why Luffy literally ended up in the western village.
