âdesigning much faster than the othersâ â this so daft and makes it clear they donât understand design at all. âDesigning fastâ (or slow) is just not a thing. If you conflate âproducing ui by piecing together stuffâ and âdesignâ then the former (which is a form of assembly-line practice) can surely be fast or slow.
What makes the practice of design challenging is not how to put a ui or poster together, itâs what the pieces are, what the message is, what is being communicated, how it all works together.
So many of todayâs âdesignâ AI tools focus almost exclusively on the production part, on putting stuff together. Iâd love to see an AI design tool that forms a deep understanding of a problem over the course of days or months and works like a creative partner. Call me on my bullshit, thinks about the whole, isnât concerned really about the final arrangement of elements as much as it would understand the story and the message.
Revolut's designers are moving off Figma.
Storonsky spotted one team designing much faster than the others. What they did:
1. Gave an LLM Revolut's design system at the code level
2. Prompted it to build new flows on top of that system
3. Got a live interface they can click through on a laptop or phone, instead of static frames
Result: 3-4x faster. Now he's pushing it to every designer at Revolut.
His job, as he describes it: find what works in one team and spread it across the company.

the wonderful side effect of AI is that once we're collectively fatigued from all the cool "design details" we will finally start to understand design as how it works, not how it looks
.@govpt I challenge you to do the same for Portuguese public online services.
Fragmented, inconsistent, unpleasant to look at. We can be more efficient by design, from the bottom up.
We have the talent. Give a team the space to build it.
I'm happy to help kick it off.

Besides ingesting the design system from GitHub and providing the .fig file to Claude Design for building a Design System for early prototypes, is there anything else we can do to increase the fidelity?
The attention to detail we love at @amplemarket, crafted by @ixahmedxii and @alexandre_arauj: the mini bars subtly shift toward the center as they collapse, staying perfectly aligned with the button.
This was our motto at @amplemarket two years ago when we revamped. Hand-crafted design was a crucial part of it, since we were positioning ourselves as the AI Sales Tool.
Weâre doing a brand uplift now, aiming for something fresher, but hand-crafted is non-negotiable for us.
New product paradigm: users interact with the traditional UI less and less. Make the moments they do show up beautiful, fast and memorable

We need to stop talking about product design in absolutes⊠there are no rules. Everything is made up. Do what makes sense and feels right.
I took some time with @tomscottv to put into words something we've been quietly living at Amplemarket: how we actually work when everyone's saying designers are cooked and AI is eating everything.

They donât tolerate poor craft. Bugs and mistakes are inevitable, thatâs part of building software, but choosing to ignore them is something else entirely.

Thank you for the heads up. Looks like this is a native Windows select on web. Creating a custom select for this now. Fix coming soon.
