When you’re uploading to Bandcamp, please consider us small radio folk who can’t afford to buy full albums for every track on a two hour show. That’s on average at least 20 albums at approx £8 = £160 per month. Having the ability to buy single tracks is mega appreciated.

Just 10 years after Black Mirror premiered. Do I have doubts about people will re-enact each episode over time? Not after this article. Grim stuff. sfchronicle.com/projects/202…

"Trust is essential to security. You need to trust the hardware, the OS, the software etc. If one of those is untrustworthy, the whole system is insecure. It’s the same reason blockchain-based currencies are so insecure, even if the cryptography is sound." schneier.com/blog/archives/2…

W3C announced on June 17th that Web Audio API is now an official standard, bringing music and audio creation and manipulation to the Web. @firt do you recognise this could help in regards to new development re: background audio on iOS? w3.org/2021/06/pressrelease-…
Digital publishers getting the 🖕 from Apple on PWAs:
🚫 no installation banner - onboarding
🚫 no icon from manifest - identification
🚫 no web push - relationship
🚫 no background sync - ux
🚫 no background audio - playlists & podcasts
While taking a 30% cut in the App Store.
Exactly! Because it is a simple thing to communicate and most of all easy to implement technically. Once a PWA publishing ecosystem with these features rises the 30% digital tax will be seen as the blockroad for small businesses that it is.

Swap the terms 'developers' with 'music artists' and 'apps' with 'music' and it works too.
Only a few days before WWDC, Apple has a major developer-relations problem.
It isn’t the 30%, or the 15%, or the App Store rules.
It’s what Apple’s leadership thinks of developers and our work.

It's 2021 and I still read comments on MacOS like this: "A sane version of Music that wasn't made by developers out of primary school." - from a whislist for Apple's developer conference this June.
Say it with me: Never touch a running system.
Abuse of power comes as no surprise: Telecom companies have been buying fake AI comments to influence political decision-making on net neutrality. Then, thanks to new technology like GPT-3, the comments won't be so easy to spot next time. schneier.com/blog/archives/2…
